i myself sing in the shower, and sometime i dont even know i'm singing until i actually try to listen to the sounds of the shower. alot of other people sing in the shower too, but do we do it by instinct or do we just do it because its a habit?

It's a habit. It's a private place with great acoustics. Most people like to sing but they don't think they sound good. Well in a bathroom not only is the privacy to be ourselves there, but the acoustics work in such a way that we sound wonderful and we can hear ourselves. This may not sound like much but most people who feel they cannot sing only need to listen to themselves when they sing and the problems they have singing are eliminated. In a bathroom we can hear ourselves naturally so we can stay on pitch.

I do it because I am a sucky singer but I sound ok in the shower. I love to sing in my car too but the radio is so loud that I can't even hear myself which is a good thing. Singing in shower is better than singing in your car too because the other day I was really getting into this song while driving and I didn't think anyone could see me and there was a car behind me and they saw me and were laughing at me. Guess I looked pretty funny I would laugh at me to but it was embarassing.

a lot of people are afraid to sing in public. So i think people sing in the shower as a way of singing but no one can hear (but sometimes people do) Also, there are great acoustics.

I think it's because you sound so good in the shower, like a little echo chamber. And you're all alone where nobody can hear you so you don't have to be shy about your voice. (I sing in the car for the same reason).

It keeps up occupied. Sometimes i sing in the shower and don't realize it until I turn the shower off, I am so use to singin in the showers. funny but true. We also don't have anything else to do so it works out.

The tile in most showers its good for reflecting sound . Many people sing in the shower because they can hear their own voice reflected back at them.

maybe because showering is such a wonderful sensation, almost like a gentle massage. It makes you want to oh and ahhhh, la la la laaaaaaaaaa (soprano) Do Ray Me Fah So lah ti DOoooooooooooooooooe
.....and the acoustics in the shower are better than an opera hall. I swear, I sound like Whitney Houston.

Something about it seems so dramatic and there for you must sing! lol the water, the smell of soaps, and um the naked-ness, something about it makes it the perfect time to sing. lol

I don't but the bathroom generally has good acoustics. ^_^
you're in there anyway so you figure "why not sing? it's the best room for it. it's not like anyone'll notice <_<... >_>..."
