I used to be "militantly" anti-gay, then I realized I was just terrified someone would think I was gay, so I would bash them all the time and crap. Then I dropped the mask and quit caring what people thought.

Keep in mind that my definition of a homophobe is someone who speaks or acts out in a nagative way about all homosexuals, not neccesarily anyone who isn't gay.
I have never seen or even heard of any gay person saying a straight person should be gay.

No. I don't think most homophobes are that way. I think they just don't understand people and are afraid of what they don't understand.

The term homophobe is an invention of the homosexual community to paint those who oppose their program of normalization in an unflattering light. The homosexual community could just as easily be called heterophobes, or Christophobes. The normalization of homosexual penetration during love making runs counter-current to anything observable in nature, and the claim that homosexuality is a trait that this species is born with has yet to proven scientifically. The jury is still out, so to speak. As far as being afraid of homosexuality, the only thing I'm afraid of is the current move by some to silence opposition to the homosexual normalization program.

Most homophobes are not gay. Like you said they are afraid of being considered gay if they have don't have something against it. There are two typical homophobes, the ones who are afraid of being considered gay or the ones who are bibles obsessed and think that since it says it in the bible is must be wrong. Don't get me wrong people have their own reasons but these are the most typical.

I think it is rather sad that the term homophobe is taken to mean anyone who disagrees with homosexuality. I don't believe that homosexuality is right behavior, but I have never cursed a gay person, nor raised my hand against one, and I never intend to. In a civilized society we can disagree without hating, discriminating and fighting one another.

No.
I think the label "homophobes" is an attempt at reverse psychology, intended to tear down those who disagree with the gay lifestyle and to build up those who support it.
It really seems a bit like schoolyard name calling so that the people who would like to establish a pecking order can do so by bullying others.
It is to me, on the same level as members of one religion calling another religion a "cult". I hope you can see the comparison here.
What people need to realize, is that, it is your life, and your decision what to do with it. So why on earth are so many of you, so desperate to seek outside approval?
Seems that this continuous need for approval, shows a lack of self respect and confidence on the part of the persons who feel the need to create derogatory terminology to describe those of a different viewpoint.

Fear of the unknown is quite common, and some people take it to a higher degree. And others just like to find a group to hate, or are raised that way. They aren't homosexual in disguise.

No. I don't.... I think they have a hetero view and life style and just don't care for it being perverted. Do you want to call every expression or idiom a homosexual outlook ? the word gay used to be good to express happiness ;now it expresses for heteros a nightmare. homo predators prey on the kindness and respect granted by the vast hetero portion of society and they should take notice .

Most homophobes are not secure in their own sexuality.. To avoid having people look at them they scream and point at someone else.. It's quite sad I pity people who are that insecure...

Would'nt that mean, given that "straight" people are Homophobes, that gay people are "Heterophobes"? Afraid of being straight, Afraid of what people might think of them if they were straight. My persoanl sentiment on the word "homophobe" is that it is yet another label, placed upon those of us by the liberal left, who do not agree with your lifestyle choice.

Well congrats to you. I think that people who are homophobes are not necessarily afraid of being gay themselves. More of what other people would say if they were gay. I think that homophobes are afraid more of the free and open aspect of being gay, than the actual "gayness" itself.
