I think they can. In fact, when I was an atheist, one of my professors in college was a terrific guy who I could get along with very easily. He taught a history course that talked about European History and followed the Reformation and all the various ins and outs of Christianity. I found it interesting even though I didn't believe in God becuase I've always been interested in history. He was a Christian, in fact a protestant pastor by trade. We got along well. It was one of the things that came back to me when I later was questioning atheism.

This question has been asked a hundred times and YET no one has been able to shut it down. They're BOTH just too damn stubborn to let it go and simply agree to disagree. the christians can't see that their arguing is DRIVING their folloers away in droves, and the Atheists won't see that THEIR arguments are just making folks who consider themselves as Atheist but yet want NO part of this fight jsut walk away from any support that they might have gained. The Childishness of BOTH sides is only hurting THEM and the ones who ARE benefitting are ALL the other Faiths of the World. In the U.S. the fastest growing Religions are the NON-Christian Religions like Wicca (doubling every 3 to 5 years), Islam, attracting 100,000 converts a year, Buddhism, attracting 50,00 followers every year and so on. Why is that happening? Because the OTHER Religions simply do not take the bait that the atheists are tossing out. For the most part they just ignore their questions and arguments. And the Christians Seem to have a persecution complex (which I do NOT understnad at all. THEY have been the persecuters for MOST of their existence), They feel that they HAVE toi return the incoming fire with fire of their OWN.
When you get an answer to your question that REALLY addresses this THEN let the REST of us know. But I seriously doubt that you WILL so that leaves you to pick the answer that you agree with the most. *shrugs*

I'm sure that atheists don't hate theists. I truly believe they pity them, and see them as lacking in common sense.
Surely no atheist ever wanted to do any harm to a theist, and it has only been in recent times that atheists have been talking back.
I'm 73, and when I was young, Christians were always telling atheists and even agnostics that they would burn in hell, and I can't recall any atheist ever talking back or being rude to them. It just wasn't done.
But after I read and studied the Bible in college, and saw how child-like these stories indeed were, I could hardly make it past the first few pages without being disgusted by the stories that I had expected to be so enlightening. I was very religious up until I read the Old and New testaments and researched their history.
Now when I hear grown up people talk about Angels, Demons, Devils, Hell, and Paradise, I feel that same disgust.
They really sound like children to me, even though I don't want to treat them with disrespect.

To be truthful I completely agree with you... everyone should try to cooperate and make the world a better place. I think both sides is to be blamed. Christians (no offense) is sometimes just too stubborn in trying to push everyone into their religion to be "saved". On the other hand some Atheist (yet again no offense) can be very rude toward Christianity and other Christians. I really think both sides need to change and learn to get along. As to why they can't get along? I really think it is human nature/ ego U_U

I agree with you completely. It is sad to see so much hatred and ostracism towards other religions. God means for us to spread the word and help his children to worship him, and it can be difficult when some people just don't believe in him. I would love for our world, or even Y!A, to be a peaceful place. Sadly, not one single person can do this; it takes the help of many people, and I don't know how it can be accomplished. I feel that sometimes our world is not destined for peace, and even if it is, our world likes to function without it.

IMHO If in ordinary terms we could all stay via the occasion of Jesus. whether you do not have self belief, which i did no longer use to, you ought to confess He became an excellent guy. it is the religiosity that skewed His message. it is the people who act like the clergymen of His time that reason the separation. you recognize, those that choose, criticize & condemn. those that He prayed for, alongside with the roman infantrymen that tortured Him, asserting, Father, forgive them for they know no longer what they do. I easily have present in even attempting to be an inkling like Him, Jesus, i'm rather humbled. I easily have a relationship with Jesus, His Holy Spirit which will convict my coronary heart if i'm judgmental, complete of delight & haughty, thinking i realize all of it. So, in my perception as a christian, if i'm following Jesus to the ultimate of my skill I ought to be attempting to alter those issues in my small piece of the international, no longer feed the priority which breeds chaos & violence. To me, the failings which you're speaking of, the separation, is what the devil is all approximately. (via devil, you could placed any observe there that suits you, damaging capability, etc.) Have an excellent day!

They do get along I am a Christian and beleive in a God who promotes love and peace not war.
Many people fight/ go to war in the name of religion but what kind of God would want His people at war in such a way? The bible warns of this. Most of my friends are athiest and I get on with them all and dont want to wage a war against them!

It is the unwillingness to allow others their beliefs. It has nothing to do with religion actually, especially since many atheists claim they are not a religion...(while many do) but rather the fact that we are unwilling or unable to allow others the freedom to choose on their own.
You are right, though, since God would want all people to work together... that IS the message Jesus brought to the world...LOVE ONE ANOTHER

I don't know, man, I just DON'T KNOW! T__T
(I'm neither, though. I'm agnostic myself.)
((Haha, see that pun? I made a pun. Or a joke. Whatever.))
I really don't understand why there has to be such nonsense fighting. Perhaps it's human nature, or perhaps the ones fighting are just young and immature yet. I don't know.
