I'm doing an essay on this, and I'm wondering if they carry that much artwork from these time periods?
- Renaissance
- Baroque
- Rococo
- Realism
- Impressionism
- Modern

thanks!

Generally, yes.
Renaissance: yes, a huge amount. See Leonardo (e.g. The Virgin and Child with St Anne, Mona Lisa, Virgin on the Rocks etc) Michelangelo (The Dying Slave, Moses)

Baroque: yes, Caravaggio (The Death of the Virgin) Guido Reni (David with the Head of Goliath, Hercules and somebody whose name escapes me...Achilles??) Bernini (Pope Urban VIII)

Rococo: yes, Fragonard (Waterfall at Tivoli) Boucher (Diana at her Bath) Watteau (Diana at her Bath, again, Autumn)

Realism: Corot (Roman Landscape, several versions), Millet (The Hay Gatherers)

Impressionism: Monet (The Bridge at Argenteuil, many others), Renoir (Le Bal au Moulin de la Galette), Sisley (The Boat During the Flood).

Modern: Frida Kahlo (don't know any names, sorry, but it was in an exhibition called Mexico, I believe, around 1935-40ish) and I've gone blank for any others to be honest...but there is more, and I'll update this. Hope it helps.

The Louvre is a living museum that has it all. Just don't expect any contemporary modern art. For that you should visit "centre Pompidou"

But all 'old' modern art they have in the Louvre. They themselves say about the painting collection:
The Department of Paintings reflects the encyclopedic scope of the Louvre, encompassing every European school from the 13th century to 1848.
Try this page to find any specific artist they may have work of.

the Louvre is the largest art museum in the whole world. of the 5 times that I've been there, i get there when it opens, and walk around for 8 (not kidding, seriously, 8 damn hours) and only covered 1/3 (if i walk fast) of the entire museum. and of all the time periods you have ask, they are ALL available to be viewed at the Louvre.
