I would highly recommend getting another cat. Cats do get really lonely, and having another living creature there would give her someone to play with while you're gone.
I had one cat for a couple of years, and then I got a second cat for her. She was so much happier after that. Even my friends who took care of her when I was gone said she was so much less `needy' when they came.
Please consider another cat!

Unless your house is near complete destruction when your cat comes home she does not have separation anxiety. Cats and dogs get upset when they see their companions leave but they soon get over it. They are also happy to see their companions arrive home. Get a video camera and observe how your cat is doing while you are gone. Don't be surprised if you find it sleeping, eating, and playing...normal cat stuff.
Don't make a big deal out of leaving. When the cat is occupied just leave.
The cat being at the door when you come home, well, there is nothing wrong with that. It's nice to have someone greet you.

Our cats get lonely too. It sounds like you only have one. We started with one, but he was so lonely we had to get him a buddy. It worked! He didn't cry the minute we shut the door. The other thing that worked for my family is leaving a radio or tv on, the noise seems to help. Good luck!

It's WONDERFUL to come home, knowing there is someone on the other side just waiting for YOU and no one else. If your kitty is lonely, toys, or perhaps a companion would help.

Mine hears the garage and comes immediately to the door to greet me.
I lover her too and love that she missed me....and hate it. But that's life (for both of us).
Enjoy her when your home.

Our kitties aren't happy when we go either. So they need lots of spoiling when we come home.

That's really kind of unusual I have had animals that have seperation anxiety but their usually dogs. Maybe it mean's she just loves you very much and feels safe when your near but gets sad and scared when your gone. She thinks your her mommy!
