Should I get this Car??????

Question

I was thinking about getting a 1998-2000 Ford Crown Victoria. I know police use these cars but are they really good cars because I here they are strong and sturdy but I also hear Ford has a history of always breaking down. I would like to hear the pros and cons of a Ford Crown victoria and a little history about Ford cars. Thank You

I REALLY HATE THAT PEOPLE ALWAYS DOWN FORD BUT THEY ARE ALL STUPID BECAUSE ALL I HAVE EVER HAS IS FORDS AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ONE BREAK DOWN ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS KEEP UP WITH THE GENERAL MAINTENANCE AND YOUR AR WILL LIVE FOREVER I HAVE A 1994 FORD E150 WITH OVER 200,000 MILES ON IT AND IT STILL RUNS LIKE THE DAY I GOT IT SO DISREGARD ALL THOSE FORD HATERZ OUT THERE BECAUSE THE DON'T KNOW A GOOD CAR WHEN THEY SEE ONE. SO GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE YOU TAKE THE CROWN VIC.

If they break down a lot, would they be used by the police so much? A lot of those cop cars are ran 24 hours a day. Either out on the highway or sitting in a doughnut shop. They are good sturdy cars. They are good size, rear wheel drive, family cruisers. Fords have been around for over a 100 years. Dispite all the bad press, they are good cars and equal to other manufacturers in quality.

Check the intake manifold coolant crossover. On Ford 4.6L V8s there were problems with the coolant passages being plastic and cracking causing overheating due to loss of coolant.

At the front of the motor (towards the front of the car) on top the intake manifold will be black plastic, but the front most crossover should be a silver color (aluminum). If it is black (plastic), then don't buy it. If you know someone that is more mechanically inclined, let them know about this and take them along with you so they can see if the car you look at has the defective manifold or the later style upgrade. This is the biggest con to those cars, but if the retrofit has been done, or if the car was made after Ford switched to the aluminum coolant crossover, then it should be a good car for you.

Vics are great cars. If they were bad the police wouldnt keep buying them. Whoever told you Fords always break down isnt a very bright person. Every car breaks down with age. Thats just one of those childish mine is better than yours games that come from the uneducated. Ford = Smart . Let them talk their talk, it just tells you how much smarter you are than them. The only ones that might have experienced a Ford breaking down that talk dirt, are the ones that have only owned those 2 or 300 dollar crappars that have been beat for years by idiotic people and they finally just quit, like any, yes any unmaintained vehicle.

the only fords that break down are the ones drivin by complete morons that should hae there license revoked. i bought a car identical to that at a shop nearby that sells used cop cars the milage was a little high but it had the top end engine which fooled alot of people when i could drive it at 160-180 KPH which is hard to get where i live because of very bad road conditions

also my dad owns a 2002 ford f150 king ranch and he was very pleased with it. it came with a ford immobilizer and when theives tried to steal it they couldnt and just damaged the door getting in

I hate people who like to step on Ford too. If they think they know everything, do they know that Ford has recently beaten Nissan and is equal to Toyota in quality, and that Ford has received the most awards than any car manufacturer in the world?
