While Proactiv Solutions does work, it is slow and needs to be used twice a day, every day. I have found that certain brands of Neutrogena 2-Step Process used twice a day to work fast and effectively. In fact, since I've been using it for several months, my acne has completely stopped. These solutions can be found at any supermarket like Wal-Mart or Target.

If you're rich you could go and see a fancy dermatologist (although there's probably a waiting list!) and get injections or other fancy treatments.
Otherwise you could see a normal doctor who may prescribe antibiotics or prescription medication like Acutane (or even the pill if you're a girl) if your acne is bad enough, but that would take a while to work.
So you could try the toothpaste trick (never worked for me, but some people swear by it) where you put a dab of toothpaste on a big spot for a while. There are also other topical creams and facewahses (Neutogena, Benzyl Peroxide, Witch Hazel, Medihoney). B Complex and B5 (tablets, twice a day) work for some people (me). To be honest I have found this to be a bit of a miracle cure and if you google it you will find a lot of info and more testamonials. Doesn't work for everyone, but when it does work, it's awesome. And it's available over-the-counter, with no side effects.
Also try to eat healthy food, exercise, keep clean and drink water. Most of these remedies take a few days minimum to work.

I used to have an acute case of acne when I was younger for many years; it covered
my face, back, chest and posterior. I eventually healed myself without the use of
drugs. I cured myself through DIET.
-This is what you should avoid/elminate:
fried foods
White bread/flour
starch combinations during the same meal (e.g. potatoes and pasta)
soda/carbonated drinks
sugar/corn syrup
meat/dairy
soft foods (processed foods)
hydrogenated oils (in processed foods)
-you should increase your intake of:
fruits/vegetables, preferably organic (you should have a salad a day, at the least)
8 glasses of water a day
whole foods
black and/or brown bread (whole grains)
nuts
-you should have a balance, of 80% alkaline forming foods, to 20% acid forming
foods. (mostly fruits and vegetables)
-----
Basically, your eliminations are poor/sluggish; thats is why some people can get
away with eating badly, but you may not. The reason changing your diet to the foods
below will help is because your eating foods that are much easier to digest and
elminate than those above.
I would check out Edgar Cayce; without his advice I would probably still suffer
today.
He also said you can help yourself through osteopathic adjustments to your spine,
he said this can create imbalances in your nervous system (if it isn't in proper
adjustment) which will affect everything else. I haven't done this yet, as it is
expensive; but I assume when I do, I will be able to better digest the
aforementioned foods. Through DIET ALONE I have been cured for a number of years.
Don't believe the people who say it doesn't effect it, I swear to god this will
help. It helped me. =) good luck!

I suggest a plain, oil free soap used every day (if not twice a day). I use several brands, but I've acually found that smaller brands work better. I have major acne problems and I always find the simple solution is the best.
Hope this helps!

Well Roacutane is the most effective drug in reducing acne, however you need to see a dermatolagist in order to get a prescription for some. Also it is not suitable for everybody because it has some side effects that show up worse in some people than others. It really can get rid of acne for life.
Speak to your doctor. They will run you through some products that arent scams.

The Loreal Acne Response kit works well! You can usually find it for under $20.. it is a 3 step kit, it definitely works. I never tried proactive, didn't wanna order it and such, but you can find the loreal stuff at any drug store or even grocery stores now. It starts working after a couple days if you use it consistently, and it keeps working! i never really have any break out or pimple problems anymore unless i forget to use it or run out or something for a day--but works as soon as you start again. good luck!

As crazy as it sounds, I thought I was doomed to have acne until I started low carbing. I ate mostly meat, veggies, and some dairy and soy and my acne cleared right up. As soon as I try to add sugar back into my diet - boom...the acne comes right back.
So a healthy diet does play a role.

this may sound gross but it works when you wake up in the morning take the spit that is on your tongue and put it on the acne area let it sit for 15 minutes then clean your face and hopefully your smart enough not to use soap on your face...
