I'm not a complete scientific expert, so I can't really say. It could be just coincidence, but there could be other calculations that would have worked to create conditions that eventually life could survive in. I think Balaam’s Talking Donkey said it very well when he said, (in response to another question) “Just because conditions are sufficient for you to live, doesn't mean they were specifically created for you to live.”

It proves absolutely nothing. We don't KNOW how many times it went bang until the conditons were perfect for THIS universe to coalesce. It says nothing about coincidence, miscalculation, multiverses, OR God.
Atheists AND Christians. you need to stop this goading and baiting of each other. NEITHER of you is going to convince the OTHER to change viewpoints. Just GROW up and stop the childish bickering. You do your side of the argument ANY service by continuing to behave in this manner. Just DROP it. No matter WHO is right or wrong it doesn't make a single iota of difference. You're HERE, so LIVE your lives. The WORLD is in some serious trouble and ALL you can do is jab at each other? Come on now. Whether or not you believe what the other is saying is NOT going to solve THIS world's problems. We are ALL in this together and you NEED to find what you have in common and work on esteblishing a relationship based on THAT. Your argument has been goping on for THOUSANDS of years now and there is NO resolution yet. Meanwhile you are ignoring the REAL problems of our World. Just GROW up and stop long enough to LOOK around you. Nobody even CARES who is right or wrong in your stupid petty argument.

Let's put it this way - if it had been other than what it was, you wouldn't be here asking why not. You couldn't have existed if the circumstances hadn't been right - but since it took more than 10 billion years for life to show up in the first place, I'd say the universe probably didn't have you in mind.
Nope, no designer. Sorry. Try reading Nature once in a while - or maybe Suskind's book 'String theory and the illusion of design.'

Theres really not much to learn from saying we exist in a universe where we are possible, anytime people speculate about cosmology the anthropic principle always comes up. The fallacious princible goes like this. Let us observe O and consider two explanations. Given explanation A, the probability of O is very low, but given explanation B, the probability is high. It tempting to deduce from this that the probability is much higher for B than A, but there is no principle of logic or probability that allows this.
Its really just fun to speculate.

"God did it" is a true answer to how the universe was created, just as "Edison did it" is a true answer to how the lightbulb was created.
If you want to qualify your question then say how was the universe created scientifically. Even though, God created it, he still used science to do so, just as even though Edison created the lightbulb, he used science to do so.
It make me wonder sometimes are "some" of the theoretical physicists looking for a way in which the universe could have been created without God, as if its some kind of vendetta, or does the scientific facts actually lead that way. Suppose the facts lead the other way, would they be just as pleased. Is it the job of scientists to disprove God, or is it the job of scientists to show that order exists in the universe?

Actually the energy has been different all over the universe. Notice in all the photos of space we don't see a lot of rockets flying around. Sure I can believe we are here by a mere chance! We better make the most of it!

If we live in a multiverse, which some cosmologists are studying, then each parallel universe could have a different composition of matter, could be made of anti-matter, could have different physics, etc. It is a fascinating field of study. A creator? Why is one needed?

Actually I Don't think that Dr. Hawking is a reliable source of information these days. Most people who work in the field of Theoretical Physics don't regard him as quite the innovator or genius that his books make him out to be.

a natural balance on an atomic level is hard to understand but even harder to understand is how a supreme creator invented by early mankind could create itself and have perfect power to create such a universe and still screw up with diseases and other natural disasters we have in this world .Maybe it was a cooperative effort between Zeus his lightning bolts and Hercules and his super strength.

I don't think Hawking knows what he's talking about and I think like Brounowski he'll vanish from the mainstream after he's dead and gone. He's hardly an Einstein.
