it may be a sin or whatever but i dont see your strong opposition to death penalty and your law say "thou shalt not kill"...so if you just ignore some sins why dont ignore others and let people live their life???
By the way death penalty is just the opposite not letting someone live their life and you just accept it.
I always thought that killing was a greater sin than being gay or playing gay or whatever you may say

noncrazed so if the term has strings attached all you have to do is just disattach them...not really a hard work and to kill someone is to kill someone no matter what word you use...why are you so worried about how to call something when it is all the same???

Let's see:
Over 50% of all marriages end in divorce, up to 50% of wives and 70% of husbands cheat on their spouses.
I say let the gays have a go at it, they might just get it right.
BTW it doesn't matter if the commandment says kill or murder, capital punishment is included and no where does it say God is against gay marriage. Sorry, can't change the Bible just to suit your personal views.

Actually, it is 'Thou shall not murder' and you are misunderstanding that commandment.
The death penalty is for those that have done truly henious crimes. Under the Law they are proscribed to die. It is the penality for their actions.
A lot of people don't understand why Christians can be against abortions but pro-death penalty. They are two entirely different issues. One is innocent and defensless and the other has terrorized the innocent and defensless.
I am not Christian, but I am not thrilled with the idea of gay marriage. My husband who is Chrstian is completly against it. Both of us have the bibical idea of marriage, between a man and a woman.
For me it is not just for procreation, which many people think, but it is for the union that can happen between a man and a woman. They are designed to fit together, and it is not just a physical but a spiritual union.
I am more for the term civil union then for using the term marriage. Why the insistence on this term? It is a term that already has strings attached.

The death penalty and murder is two different things. You should not kill an innocent person. God told Moses to make laws about giving the death penalty for certain crimes. I tell you the truth if some one tries to kill me I am going to defend myself. I never heard of the Bible saying "Thou shalt not defend yourself". As for the main question... I am against homosexuality and against gay marriage. First of all the majority of the homosexual agenda is centered around gay men. Well the whole anal sex thing is not a natural act. I don't care what anybody says. In my opinioin men having anal sex with another man is the gossest, vilest, most perverted act you can committ. Marriage is between a man and a woman. It was always meant to be that way.

Actually, the word translated "kill" in the commandment is more clearly translatable as "murder." Orderly execution for a crime is not murder.
However, you could have made your argument using the fourth commandment. Why does popular Christianity get so excited about the 7th commandment and stomp all over the 4th? Either keep all the commandments, or lets just all do whatever we feel we can get away with.

I am not truly of one mind on this issue. I am very interested in hearing intelligent and dispassionate arguments on both sides. While I am not totally opposed to same sex marriage, I must admit that I am not fully comfortable with it either.
What I am certain of is that the issue of same sex unions is not a matter of core doctrines within Christianity. Its not like changing the theology around the Resurrection, virgin birth, or things of that magnitude. If someone told me that Jesus' Resurrection was not a physical one, I would say that person is not a Christian. The matter of whether or not to bless the unions of same sex couples is not on this level. Its a difficult issue because of the perception that the Bible condemns homosexuality. But the Bible condemns many things that are seldom given a second thought today, such as the dietary laws in Leviticus.
So, to answer your question: I don't know.

I really don't understand why they feel the need to make it their business in the first place.
Doesn't the bible also say do not judge others lest you be judged? Or some nonsense like that?
I mean, really. What two people do with each other is their own business, noone elses, yet they seem to love sticking their noses into everyones business. Rallies, making anti-gay posters, going to the polls to vote it down when it should have never been an issue to begin with.
It's a shame really, that you arrogant christians and other religious types can't just let people be who they are without needing your permission/acceptance of them.
Really, get over yourselves for once.

Ofcourse I would care from a spiritual point of view. I feel it is not right in the eyes of God, and will not prosper our country. Despite that politically I can not say that gays should not be allowed to marry. I won't like it, but still in the arena of civil rights in this country, I believe they have the right. People have the right to do all sorts of things that I disagree with. A man or a woman can be a registered prostitute in Nevada if they want to. I don't like it, but it's within their right.
God gives us all free will to do what we want. However with that free will comes self-responsibility for the results.

I am a christian and, although i dont AGREE with gay marriage, i know it's not my decision to make. I dont try to force my beliefs on other people, so if some guy likes another dude, that's fine by me. That doesnt mean i would go make out with a chick, but it's not my place to make that decision for other people. You have to let other people live their own lives.

I have nothing against two gays living together, but I do have some strong objections to the state actually endorsing two gays living together in matrimony.
The pro-life, death penalty comes up all the time. It is used to show how bigoted Christians are, however Christians are against what God says that He is against, and the Bible prescribes the death penalty for a variety of sins, even though it tells us that we should choose life. That is not a contradiction, it just requires understanding.

Their choice. Bible says man and woman but it also says "Judge not and you won't be judged". It's not for me to say, that's up to God. Call it a cop-out, but I'm not taking any chances and neither should any so-called Christian unless they are 100% sure of what they are talking about. Unfortunately many have no clue according to some of the questions and answers on these pages.
