because so many people want to read into the BoM & D&C how they please. just like people do with the bible for all of christianity. not all mormons are beligerant, just like not all non-christians are. but nonetheless, there are people who will read into religious doctorine whatever they want just to bring that idea down. it gos the same with philosophy too.

Because a lot of times, things are taken out of context, or aren't understood in the way they were meant to be understood. People will believe what they will, and will make every effort to make what they believe "fit", to do so, they take something they heard and put it into context of their own beliefs.
There really isn't a hidden meaning, just the way things are interpreted can be different. Since our understanding of our religion is better then non-members, and even ex-mormons, we see things a little different then you would. Not that it's bad for you to think that, we just like to correct what is said so it's in line with what we believe.

you get your information from Mormon-hating websites that lie or present half-truths and or reports good things as bad.
So that is why you misinterpret our doctrine.
Recently I saw half of a quote on this site used to defame our leaders but when the whole quote was entered in by one answerer he got a thumbs down. If we put it back into context it wrong to you?
I hope you can release your hurt that you are feeling because of "something" about the LDS church that hurt you and move on with your life. Give your hurt over to Christ and let Him heal your heart. Bask in the miracle of Forgiveness. As your forgive and let go of your hurt you will find peace.
All due love and respect to you

Really.... so... saying that a woman and a man have a "place" in life doesn't mean that a woman should stay at home to take care of the family, instead of have a career, and the husband should work?
Gee, thats news to me. See... I've known one heck of alot of Mormons in my life. And somehow... that seems like you just lied.
No, Mormon beliefs are presented with great truth behind them. And I don't like what I see.
Btw... the next time a couple of Mormon guys start following me down the street preaching, even after I've sped up my walking clearly indicating that I didn't want to talk to them, I'm going to buy mace to mace them in the face for harassing a lone woman on the street.

It may not be advisable to overthink this subject of religion. Practitioners of all religions have beliefs that are unique to their faith. Some are not mainstream.
They path to tolerance is the understanding of how these religions have helped people deal with life. Judging by the Mormons I met, the Church of the LDS has done a very good job -- as have many other religions.

They sometimes claim that the reason the facts dont fit the lie they are telling you is because you have to understand it "Spiritually". Thats what the whole Book of Mormon lie is about. You are supposed to read it , then pray for a warm feeling to confirm that its true. If you dont get the warm feeling. its because you did not do it right, or you are not worthy, or...............
Its never their fault. you either get it or you are to blame.
That carries over into every thing they do. "Oh, we believe the Bible " (as long as its translated correctly). So whenever it condemns our wacky beliefs, its the Bible translators fault for not translating it correctly.

I don't think that it's they are so easily misinterpreted. I think that there just seems to be a lot of people out there that make it there mission to destroy the LDS Fayth. I have seen this with many other Fayth's in the world, it's just here in America, the LDS Fayth is the unpopular one.
Why don't we all just take a chill pill and get on with our lives.
Anti-Mormons: We know you hate us. That's painfully clear, so don't go reminding us every 15 seconds that you hate our belief structure.
Mormons: Stop egging them on. Don't you have anything better to do with your time?

The church leader have shyed away from answering direct questions, deferring to 'the spirit', thus you see the complete spectrum of answers from the mormons at large.
It's now more 'interpretive' than ever with less emphasis on past prophets to more what's bugging the current leaders today.
They'll probably disband altogether once more gentiles fill in the Watsatch front..

Good question. I think it is because they believe that they have a possibility of becoming gods.
When followers of Christ read and understand what Mormon teaching, we step back and know there is only one true God.
In Mormonism, men and women have the potential of becoming gods. President Lorenzo Snow said, "As god once was, man is. As God is, man may become." In order to reach this exalted state of godhood, a person must first become a good Mormon, pay a full ten percent tithe to the Mormon church, follow various laws and ordinances of the church, and be found worthy. At this point, they receive a temple recommend whereupon, the Mormon is allowed to enter their sacred temples in order to go through set of secret rituals: baptism for the dead, celestial marriage, and various oaths of secrecy and commitment. Additionally, four secret handshakes are taught so the believing Mormon, upon entering the third level of Mormon heaven, can shake hands with god in a certain pattern. This celestial ritual is for the purpose of permitting entrance into the highest level of heaven.3 For those who achieve this highest of heavens, exaltation to godhood awaits them. Then, he or she, will be permitted to have his or her own planet and be the god of his own world and the Mormon system will be expanded to other planets.
