I am one of those uninformed people who listens to the media, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I believe it has nothing to do with you as Muslims. You live in a poor part of the world, and therefore and burdened with supporting the self before the community. It's like Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs. You must fill psyiological needs before esteem. That, and you have the unfortunate burden of being led by arrogant leaders....although we seem to be coping alright

I'm not Muslim and don't know much about Islam. Unfortunately your guess will undoubtedly be correct that you'll get heavy backlash from this question. Lots of controversy here. Hatred comes easy when there is fear. After 9/11 many westerners equate Muslims with Terrorists. Sorry to all the peaceful people who suffer from discrimination. Perhaps like any other group it becomes something you keep private/quiet about not to attract unwanted attention. It will be tough to hang together or educate people so long as there are violent factions no matter how small.

Things that don't make Islam peaceful. Jihad(Holy War) Sharia Law You are most probably born in a democratic country were faith is barely shown, if you go to an Islamic country(not were the tourists dwell) you will see the face of Islam, its strict rules that are pressured intesely on the population, depending on the country woman and children suffer the most. Woman rights? forget about them , you have a curfew a dress code and chores that have to be done, behave badly and "smack" in the face or death "yes death". Its like prison but you have done nothing wrong but being born with a promise of prosperity and inner peace once dead(nice!) For some reason Islamic wars are hidden and barely mentioned, genocides and innocent people dead by twenty folds of that of the holocaust. Conquest of Persia: 633-651 Conquest of Transoxiana: 662-709 Conquest of Sindh: 664-712 Conquest of Hispania: 711-718 Conquest of the Caucasus: 711-750 Umayyad conquest: 718-750 Conquest of Nubia: 700-1606 Conquest of Italy: 831-902 Conquest of Anatolia: 1060-1360 Byzantine-Ottoman Wars: 1299-1453 Modern Ottoman Turks: They continued the trend of conquering and killing and forcing conversion, destroying anything that does not follow the red moon. Either convert or die. Armenians, Greeks, Kurds heck even Jews have been victims of this peaceful nation , to this day somehow after all they have done they maintain a big portion of the populations. Peaceful? remember the drawing? it didn't happen 100's of years ago , do you remember what happened or the beheading of innocent people died , oh ya its still happening isn't it? Btw, I'm against the Iraqi war, muslims are human beings and despite my views on their beliefs I wish no harm upon them, in my belief they are my brothers, sisters that have strayed away from the truth of life . Islam needs a strong voice. For far too long has the Fayth of Islam been driven by the loud voices of those who only want to advance there own agenda. Now don't get me wrong, there are quite a few Imams out there who speak towards the betterment of the Islamic Fayth, but those are being drowned out by those who want revenge. I would call on all the peace loving Imams in the Islamic Fayth cry out to there brothers and sisters to rejoin Islam and the Pillars that guide her.

There is nothing wrong with Islam, but tribalism runs rampart in a lot of Middle Eastern countries. The leaders are corrupt and greed is the name of the game. This theme runs through history with many different religions. Wasn't it the dark ages when the church was selling the idea of speeding up the purgatory process?

We have some greedy leaders thats whats wrong with the community!
Quran foretells that near the end of time Islamic countries would have oppressive and greedy leaders ( just like we do right now) Prevez Musaraf, Saddam Hussein and many others who only care about money and nothing more.

In the name of Allah the most Gracious the most merciful
All Praise and thanks is to Allah the lord of the worlds who has Guided the Muslims to the religion of Islam and has perfected his religion for us.
Muslims are commanded to hold firm to the rope of Allah the
almighty, that is the Quran and follow the legal ways ,the Sunnah of the prophet Muhammad [pbuh ].There is no other way to follow, and therefore Allah tells us in the Quran ''To enter into Islam whole heartedly''. This means that a person who submits himself himself to God almighty has to do so
completely and willingly without any other intention but that of
pleasing their lord. Allah the almighty commands us in various
places in the quran ''To obey Allah and his Messenger'' [pbuh]
Allah the almighty also admonishes us in the quran where He
[glory be to him ] says which means that When Allah and his
messenger decrees a matter for the believers then we do not
have a choice in the matter but to obey! Then again Muslims
are warned that we will never taste the sweetness of Faith
unless we love Allah and his messenger [pbuh ] more that
anything else.Allah Also makes it clear to us that He would
never change the conditions of a people unless they change
themselves first.!
If we look at some of the tenets of Islam mentioned above one can understand the plight of Muslims around the world
today. The reason being that some Muslims have completely
strayed away from the Quidance of the Holy Quran and the
teachings of our beloved prophet Muhammad [pnuh ].We have been given the ultimate guidance ,as Muslims we are
not left to grope in the dark as other religious concepts but we
have the answers and the solutions to every problems facing
mankind today. We have been presented with a complete life style all we have to do is adhere to it and follow it trusting in Allah the almighty and hoping for his reward and blessings.
The Islamic Brotherhood so ,emphasized by our beloved
prophet [pbuh [ is in complete jeopardy on all levels. The teachings of Islam is all about this universal brotherhood which has to be revived along the lines of the Quran and the
sunnah of the prophet [pbuh ] Muslim countries have to take
a stand in being united against the enemies of Islam .Unfortunately our so called Muslim countries have welcomed
western cultures and their feined calls for democracy all because we are afraid of their bullying power ,but what our
people have failed to realise is that we have to stand for and
fight for the truth, bearing with patience the decree of the almighty ,and when the all powerful creator is with us who then
an defeat us.
Another aspect which should be developed is the media,There is no Muslim Media as such all we cater to is our own communities ,We have to reach out with as inter nation Agenda and use our recourses to dispel the
misconceptions of Islam and to create an awareness among
the Muslim brethren to unite under the strong pillars that
holds up the umbrella of Islam.

There is only one way for the Muslims to gain victory in this
world and in the hereafter and that is to go back to the teachings of the holy Quran and the sunnah of the prophet Muhammad [pbuh ]

Knowing next to nothing about muslim, I can only tell you what I understand about human nature. .
We are human, and we tend to bring God (big G) down to the human level as this is what we are comfortable with. People are always limiting God, regardless of the name used for Him.
Unfortunately, this seems to be universal. What we end up with is a cruel, and horribly distorted view of God.
The only thing you and I can do is try to see beyond that, and try to live the way we believe this incredible Higher Power would have us live.
At least this is my belief. God knows it's frustrating.

Blessed be & may you have peace.

who said there isn't brotherhood..sure there is!! but Muslims r occupied with other issues..most Muslim countries r poor and slow growing..leaders of these countries cant go solving the problems of other countries when they already have their own..we always pray for our brothers and sisters and hope that the next day would be brighter for them..we actually help them, we have associations that control the money donations..u might see this is not enough but the fact is that this is all we can do at the mean time..n we do our best in that.
This is my 'HUMBLE' opinion..

Most religions believe they have all the answers. I would not want to follow any religion that produces terrorists with amazing regularity.

I'm not buying your premise that "Islam is the solution for all this".
What, do you think we should all be poor and enslaved by grievous rules which seem to be the basis and practice of the teachings of Islam? I would not conform and would never follow that so called faith.
