I'm pretty active. I'm wondering if I should just take the next 3 days off from running and then start up again but my legs have been really sore after I get done running now (a mile or more 5 times a week plus playing softball). Sound like a good idea? Other suggestions?

good thing you're active. i used to run cross country, so i know running. don't take any days off, if you do the muscles will start to revert back to the way they were before you were running. it won't impact you seriously but it's better not to. limit it to one day at most. depending on your softball practices i'd say kick up the running to two miles. being sore shows that you should take a break, but not one after another. if you really have to try running every other day. hope this helped.

Playing softball along with the running may be making your legs sore. If you are conditioned to running you should not be sore. Taking off a couple of days is not a bad idea. You should always rest at least 1 day every week. Until you are conditioned to any new sport you will be sore for a few days. Depending on how much you hurt you may work through it or take a day off.

Might not be a bad idea to try increasing your miles and decreasing your number of runs. You'll still get the work in, but you'll get a valuable rest day in-between.

Don't be afraid to take a day off. More injuries come from overuse than underuse.

nope that is not a good idea. your legs are most likely sore because you havent been running ina while. continue to run until it becomes easier and easier. remember start off with a few miles once ur in better shape you will be able to run even more!

When your legs get sore after then thats good. Your gaining more mucle and making them stronger. Keep running, but not that far. And you dont need to run everyday unles you want to.

musscle soreness its tiny tears in the muscle that happens because that muscle has been doing more work than its use too.....don't take off any, and once your mucles recover from being sore it will make them even stronger and used to the running you do!!!!!!! make sure you stretch....especially after you warm up and cool down at workouts!!!!!

take it easy, let them have a break, work them in slow,. at any point of exercising did you stop cuz of an injury? just a lil rest like that will make them relax more then you planned. break them in again.

when you run you build up lactic acid, you need to eat more potassium like in yogurt or bannanas. also try streching more.
