The same reason why you need laws to tell people not to break and enter someone else's property or you go to jail. Isn't this just plain common sense to leave other peoples property alone?
How about the laws that tell people not to jaywalk because cars can't always see them and they can get hit and killed? Common sense should tell them to walk at the crosswalk or at the light?
How come with the good book and the law, people still murder and steal?
Obviously there is not a lot of common sense out there?
Or could it be a choice made by many to break the law and/or not follow God's guidelines in the bible?

Despite it being common sense many people, including non-Christians, continue to break these rules every single day. Besides that there is nothing simple about the terms steal, murder, and lie. Do you steal when you accept a promotion that someone else deserves? Are you murdering when you buy so called blood diamonds? Do you lie when you do not pay your fair share of taxes, or look for some loophole? Maybe you don't need a book to tell you to consider these things, but it wouldn't hurt most people.

Clearly, the world needs something because there is an awful lot of stealing, murdering, and lying going on in the world. Nobody ever said that common sense was all that common. But the Bible is not just about teaching us what to do or what not to do. It is God's word to us. It still speaks to us. It does provide guidance, but also hope, love, comfort, wisdom, and a window on eternity. Basically, the Bible is one long love letter from God to us. Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth

Christianity is a religion. It uses the bible (which isn't all truth) to put the fear of God in people who are not christians. In certain books, it is said about how the bible was written and rewritten according to mans memory.
I feel it is up to parents on how to raise their children. It is up to the adult to teach the dhild that stealing, murdering, and not telling the TRUTH is not good. Every child should be shown LOVE, JOY and TRUTH.

I don't need the Bible to teach me not to steal/murder/lie. Yes, it should be common sense not to do this, but common sense is not so common anymore.

I can see by your question that books are not things of guidance quality for you. We find a moral system of guidance and comfort There is always some variance
that come up. Morals are taught at an early age--what you learn then are to be cultivated with age and expertise

Think of it this way.Who made those rules to begin with?If God had not gave us the Ten Commandments to live by to begin with.Do you really think that it would be part of today's society?Probably not.If the Bible and God never ever existed and people didn't believe in him and his word.we the people that you know today would not be the same.Christianity is embedded into us at least in our way of thinking about things, even without you realizing it..We would probably be barbaric in our thinking.

You don't need to read the Bible to learn not to do those things because God has put that in us as a conscience. It seems you have a misconception of why Christians read the Bible.

Hahaha! Yeah, good point there. Another point, why do so many murderers and criminals have crosses tattooed on their arms?
BTW-it is not "natural" for people to lie, cheat and steal. I suggest you study some Hobbes Vs. Locke first.
