I think that this belongs in a different section, but I'll throw in my two cents. Because the Democratic party has been working longer than the Republicans to raise money, and the Republican candidates that have stepped up are inadequate in the eyes of potential donors and voters.

I'm not completely sure why this question regarding political parties is the "Religion & Spirituality" category, but I'll do my best to answer your question.

The Democratic candidates trail in the polls, so they need to raise money in the hopes of being able to overcome their disadvantaged poll position. I honestly believe that at least one Republican candidate could finance his own race. If Fred Thompson ever announces his candidacy, the Republican primaries may get VERY interesting.

Fewer of them. It is down to a two way race where the GOP has like 5 solid ones still. It has a lot of people sitting back waiting till it washes out a little.

Maybe they think they can buy their way into the White House. Then they could liberate us all. I will vote for the best MAN which ever party he represents. I sure wish we had some better ones to choose from. Maybe someone will step forward and give us a more qualified person to be the next president.

I think one reason is that donations to candidates, irrespetive of how big or small, are a matter of public record. Go online and search for famous people's names and you can see who donated to which candidate. If I gave you my name, you could see who I have donated to.

Unlike a vote, you can't lie about your donations. No one ever has to admit voting for Bush. But if you donate to a nutty candidate, that's on you for ever.

Repubs aren't that much into domination games and big government. We're mostly into work, family, church, like that.
Dems have to pay the media so they'll look good. Which is interesting, because the Dems Are the media. It's kind of like a tiger chasing it's tail.

Bush completely abandoned conservative principals. Anyone who gives me a thumbs down does not understand conservative principals

Examples- A larger, more cumbersome government (conservatism means small govt you idiots)

-Subsidies for medicare and protectionist trade policies (steel, oil, auto industries) Guy is a borderline communist

-Free wheeling spending habits worse than any democrat.

I am a registered republican and I am ashamed that he has hastily abandoned our principals for a narrow minded "vision" of a democratic nation in the Middle East with no understanding of the instincts and mores that drive the culture

There an an awfull lot of disillusioned Republicans out there.

Bush took the conservative agenda and crippled it. Its
too bad - true conservatism is a necessary part of the political
spectrum.

Because most Americans don't approve of the way Mr. Bush has handled the Presidency, and in turn, they don't approve of the GOP.
