Definitely go to a salon. However, any way you want to slice it, you hair can only go through so much. Bleaching it and rebleaching it will only damage it. I am a professional and if someone were to come in with dark hair and wanted to go blonde, I would give them a chunky full foil with a toner, and then have them come back in for more highlights in a few months. I would never do it in one step or several steps in a matter of a few weeks. Broken hair... not on my watch!

If you want an honest answer, I will tell you to go to a hairdresser and have it done in stages. Go to lighter brown, rest it for a couple of weeks, and then get it to blond. Bleaching is very damaging to the hair, and you don't want a mess. From dark brown to blond is a complicated double-process dyeing procedure that has terrible results if tried at home. The chemicals you can buy are not salon quality, and you're not a trained hairdresser. If you want the best results see a pro. It's expensive, but even more expensive to fix a botched home job.

you may need to go to a salon to have your hair bleached/stripped. You could get the do-it-at-home box stuff, but just in the off chance it could go orange (like when i tried to bleach dyed red hair),or something, it might be best to have it done professionally. If you do that, though, be sure to go a few days without washing your hair beforehand (yeah,i know it sounds kinda gross, but the oils in your hair protect it and keep it from drying out), and after coloring, use a lot of a rich conditioner like Pantene Pro-V or one made for colored hair like Color Vive or Pure Blonde. They should protect your hair from damage/breaking. Then after a week or so of deep conditioning, if the bleached color isn't the color you want, you could either go back to the salon or get a home kit. But you should wait at least a week or 2 in between coloring, just to be on the safe side.

Dont do it at home. Go to a hair salon. Last year i tried to go from black to dark blonde. I tried to dye it and it didnt work. You have to bleach it about 2 or 3 times until you get most of the brown out. And then it will work.
Dont buy the at home bleach it does NOT work. Get it done.

I went from medium/dark brown to bleached blonde, but I did it myself at home and fried my hair - it took a year to grow the dead stuff out, and it was horrible.
Now I go to my hairdresser and she bleaches my roots (not my whole head since its bleached and stays blonde) once a month.
And 5 years later I have long, healthy, shiny, luscious blonde hair that I just love - I'd never go back to brunette.

You need to bleach your current hair colour out first, then add the blonde you want. Trust me - don't do it yourself. You'll regret the results you get.

i urge you to go to a salon and let a professional do this... its easy to go from blonde to brown from an at home kit, but you might end up with orange hair if you do the brown to blonde change. i have went from a light brown to a blond and had to get my hair bleached then dyed for it to be the shade of blonde i chose, which wasnt like a platinum color but a natural color.. so go to a salon and dont ruin your hair by doing it at home.

i did that...and BOY AM I MAKING UP FOR IT!!! my hair is super dry although i've been using biolage and hair mask and hot oil treatments and shit0___0
you should go in stages...lighter and lighter...also try hydrogen peroxide washes(let it dry on your hair and then wash out)
ps: i had it done in the hair salon and my hair still came out dry as hellxD(after a few times going to get my hair more and more blonde lol)

only a bleach can make dark hair go to blonde...... get someone to help you that has experience, or go to a salon....... a stylist........ if you have a copper/ red color, then the bleach was not left on the hair long enough......
