Shouldn't it be blindingly obvious to everyone on the planet 1) that he/she/it exists and 2) what his/her/its nature is?

Why does "free will" require that god remain "hidden"?

Hebrews 11

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which ware seen were not made of things which do appear.....

You don't need blind faith. Faith is rarely blind...and I am absolutely positive that God doesn't want blind faith anyway. God tells us to test, to question, to study, ponder, pray. The Prophets tell us to gain testimonies...don't just rely upon someone telling you something is true. Faith is rarely blind.

Even the seed of faith isn't blind. It is...Ok...either you exist or not. Lets find out. Once you know...you take the next step...you gain a testimony of that...then in faith you take the next step until you have gained a testimony.

The reason that we are to live by faith is because we will be judged by what we know as well as what we do with what we know. So, if someone isn't willing to accept that God exists...maybe it is good that the person doesn't have a testimony that God exists?

Remember, Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is the only unforgivable sin. Why do you think that is? It is because it is through the Holy Ghost that one gains a testimony of the Father, the Son, and all truth that comes from them. He is the one that gives you knowledge of things that are true. If you don't choose to find the truth, or you are unwilling to accept the truth, or you are unwilling to change your life once you find out the truth...it is better if you don't have a testimony of the truth.

"God" is not hiding, we are.

Yes, if we were in our right mind, and not dreaming of separation, it would indeed be obvious. But faith (which is really just our plaintive whispering in the dark) need not be blind, and what "God" actually is, behind the many concepts, is real.

God as God is, has no resemblance to the wrath-weilding monster of the Old Testament. God is All That Is; God is primary energy, the combined gestalt of all consciousness, in and through all there is; all that we think we see here in this play called "life", is but a series (in our terms of time) of simple images.

Freedom is the Nature of God, this is why we can seem to destroy ourselves, or build ourselves up; why we can continue in our hiding (again, in our terms); but always we remain as created. God created only the truth, and only the truth is true...nothing else is true.

God has shown him self many times and people always discount it. What do you want him to do walk up and punch you in the face or some thing. How about putting you directly into hell for a week would that make you believe. Before you answer the truth is No it would not because you would find some way to explain it. You don't need to see the builder to know a building has a builder. Look around you. Science has been trying to explain How we came to be with out God for 1000's of year's, but all they have done is proving That there has to be one. There are 900 factors that have to be prefect for life to survive on a planet. Just looking at 41 of them put the odds in the 100's of trillions for life to survive. this means that we are rare and the odds are to high for it to happen on it's own.

There is a concept called "FAITH" that we are required to learn. To smaller degrees we learn and live by it everyday. We go to work with faith that we will get a paycheck on pay day. We drive through the intersection with faith that the other drivers will stop on the red light.
Faith is a quality that is essential to know and have, and it is required of us to learn it while we are here on the earth in the mortal "probationary" period where we prove our faithfulness and obedience to God.

If God were blatantly obvious, and we all had a sure knowledge of him, we certainly would not be living with faith. Also, keeping God's commandments would be easy since we would have sure knowledge of him.

As we practice faith, it grows stronger and can develop into sure knowledge as we learn to trust in God.

It is:

Romans 1:18-21:

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Christians don't have blind faith as people so commonly believe. Faith is putting our trust in God to do what He says (we've already made that decision based on the evidence we see around us), NOT blindly believing something for the heck of it.

I do not need blind faith. I see a lot of evidence for the existence of my Lord.

God is not hidden. If you do not have a contact with God, then you are hiding. Clean out your heart first, He will show up in there.

Well, that is an excellent question that I have asked myself many times. In the end, I believe that total understanding of God can only come with human evolution. We are not meant to understand yet. I believe the Thruth is so powerful we could not yet get our minds around it. We are meant to discover as we evolve. Until then, we need blind faith to guide us.
