Its certainly a lightweight and small car like the super popular Civic Hatchbacks. This type of car is popular at the drag strip, not in the movie type of way. The big question is what type of parts are available in the aftermarket to boost the meek horsepower of the stock Accent engine. You'll need to get to at least 200 HP to make it a somewhat fast car and hopefully the one you have is not an automatic.
You'll probably need about $6K worth of engine work to get around 250 HP, but that would obviously make for a badass Accent with a 0-60 around 5 seconds.

If your going to spend money to fix up a car you might as well start out with a car that has more bang for the buck. Not everyone can afford a 350z or Corvette but try something like a Nissan 240sx. S14 chassis with a 2.4l 4 cylinder. Fast car and parts are easy to find. Good luck finding a lot of performance parts for a Hyundai.

no, get a tiburon if you want a hyundai. Even a Tiburon will get laughed at by alot of enthusiasts unless you have alot under the engine. At least then you can call it a sleeper. Unfortunatly,Hyundais have a reputation of being a girls car right now. But that still doesnt matter if you make it really fast. If your not willing to spend the money on the engine dont get a hyundai PLEASE. a hyundai with kits and a fancy paint job and no severe engine upgrades is really tacky. But do what you want its your car. Have fun with it Accents are nice looking but if your gonna be a tuner youll have to spend a lot more on upgrading the engine on an Accent than you would on a better car to make it respectable.

The celica is good but not the accent. Try Mitsubishi cars.

i think that hyundai tiburon is suitable car for Fast and furious style tunning.
but, if you are hyundai fan boy, then better wait for new model.

hyundai will unveil 3 type of sports cars in near future.
RWD(FR), AWD, FWD(FF)

FWD - current tiburon is FWD car.
but next tiburon model will be a RWD sports car and have a strong engine(maybe 300hp?).
next hyundai's FWD sports model is 'hyundai veloster'.
resonable price and high spec with FWD.

RWD - next tiburon. this model share platform with hyundai genesis.(premium RWD sedan)

AWD - kia ex_cee'd.
this model will be a Audi TT rival.

If you want a "Fast and Furious" type car get a Nissan. The Sentra SE-R. Or the Z.

no way...the Accent is a decent car, but if you showed up as an extra in "Tokyo Nights", people would laugh at you.

It's like 100 Horspower.....are you going to pay $5-6K to make it 150HP? Nah...buy a better car.

No, they do not make good sport compacts. But if you want a Fast and Furious style rice burner, go for it, you'll look....... "great"
