it depends how active you are (i assume you go to school and are pretty active)
for weight loss
moderately active (exercise 3-5 days a week) - 1640cal/day
very active (exercise 6-7 days a week) - 1860cal/day

for maintaining your weight:

You can look up all the foods you eat and just add it up. There are many websites that have search databases so you can find the amount of calories in a certain food.

A website such as fitday.com can help you manage your weight loss goals.

Also, something that might help you is to calculate your BMR: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ . This is how many calories you burn doing nothing. Once you know this you can find out how many calories you need to eat and how much you have to exercise in order to loose weight.

Don't worry about counting calories. If you want to trim down or lose weight or get toned ... cut out all sugar - pop, starches, sweet cereal, yogurt - you really have to check the label before you eat. So, eat healthy, increase your protein intake and drink more fluid. Start exercises - walk, jog, run, lift weights but get moving and get your metabolism speeded up. Forget the diet. It will just get you thinking about what you "can't" have and you'll crave it more.

people usually eat between 1800-2200 a day. if your on a diet, cut out 500 calories a day. 3500 calories=1 lb. if you cut out 500 a day, you could lose a pound a week.
