"...these unusual ethical concerns?"
NO! It's not unusual!
It's........outrageous!
.....but then again, let him be. He is harmless, really. Poor chap - he needs our empathy more than our condemnation.

I am a Christian and a Pastor and I hate that! And I will tell them so and I have walked out of denominations that teach that, I call anyone on it if they start to preach or teach it.
1.They would rather a woman wear a dress all the way up to her "bottom" and she has to place a pillow in her lap when she sits down.
2. Or blouse cut so low she has to put her hand to block line of site.
3. Blouse or dress so thin you can see through it in the sun.
4. Or if it is long, so tight that it is cut up the side all the way to the "butt"
My wife is for sure a Biblical Christian Wife and she does not even own a dress, only Pant suits and loose fitting jeans.

He's basing that on a Bible verse that says that women should not dress like men. However, if you think about it, back in the days the Bible was written, MEN didn't wear pants, either. Look at any picture of Jesus. He's always wearing a sort of a dress. He's NOT wearing pants. Pants weren't even invented them, so who's to say that pants are strictly for men? If pants are made for a women, then they are women's clothes. Period.
And if he's on a corner with a bullhorn, then you should point out to him that before he goes condemning everyone else to Hell, he should heed Jesus's words: "When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites who love to stand up and pray in the houses of worship and on street corners, in order to be noticed. I give you my word, they are already repaid. When you pray, go to a room, close the door, and pray to your Father alone. And your Father who sees what no person sees, will hear your prayer and repay you."

The Bible says that women shouldn't wear men's clothes in the Old Testament. Meaning women shouldn't pretend to be men. This has nothing to do with pants; the preacher misinterpereted the Bible, something that is too common today.

Some do, but I don't. Those are the same people who honor God with their lips, but not their hearts. The O.T. does mention about not being a cross-dresser, but both men and women wear pants. That's not cross-dressing. I've heard it too, but the lady couldn't even give me that much Biblical evidence to support herself. She also told me that I was wrong for owning/wearing jewelry and having my hair cut. I'm a Christian who has read the Bible through, and these people are mistaken.

This preacher is confused. Trust me, I know: my father is an Assemblies of God preacher.
This preacher man is probably coming from the Scripture that talks about men not dressing like women and vice-versa. This verse is not talking about women wearing jeans. It's talking about transvestites,

This is non-Biblical and not a good way to get people to consider the Christian faith. Offer the benefits of Christianity. The "do nots" are not what we should talk about first.
Women should dress modestly; that is Biblical, but the business about dresses vs. pants is taking it too far.

You should tell him then the only people who will be going to heaven are at the nudist beach.
ie. when the sky daddy created Adam and Eve, clothes does not come as a package. This tradition is on going even until today. You do not see a child being born with clothes.

People who are more concerned with the concept of sin than with the love of God will sometimes believe strange things.
