well, why doesn't god just not create bad people and make good people only? that wouldn't take away their so-called free-will. i mean, they would still have the option of doing bad, they just wouldn't because they're good people.

voila-problem solved.

Nope. Problem still exists because god doesn't exist.

OK, I'll bite: bad stuff caused by humans, happens because of humanity's free will.

But why do we have free will? Without understanding that part, none of the rest makes sense.

We have free will so that we can learn to be good. No one has it easy. Good people have appetites, cravings, death wishes, too. When a poor, defenseless baby is left by the side of the road, in the rain, starving and cold, and is found by the most "good" person in the world, I assure you, that the "good" person will have some moment of anger at the person who left the baby there, even while at the same time trying to come up with an explanation for a "good" reason why the baby was left there like that. And even if there was a good reason.

In the world, due not to human error or meanness, there are bad things happening all the time. Lack of food, bad water, extreme heat or cold, disease, etc. Good people have the opportunity to learn to ACT on their goodness by doing something about these bad things.

If everything were good here, why have life? Just go straight to Heaven. But that is not the point, is it? Life is all about learning to do the Good thing, even when it is hard, even when it isn't fun, even when you *really* don't feel like it. Overcoming our wish for the easy life is HARD.

Wanting everyone to just be "made good" by God, is asking for God to make this life easy for you. Asking God to not require you to work hard, all your life, to make this world a better place. Life is a rough classroom. God knows that you will have it easy when you are done, and that all the pain you feel in this life isn't important in the grand scheme of things, but God also knows that it is the very difficulty of the task (living, that is) that makes this such a superb "classroom" to learn to be Good.

Maybe there isn't a God. I am not suggesting this, but when these type of questions pop up...this seems a valid question. Is there even a God? When a child becomes seriously ill or dies...is there a God? When a young mother or father dies...is there a God? When air planes crash into buildings and a field...is there a God? Why are these things allowed to happen? Maybe your Good People theory would help with the terrorist aspect...but what about all the good people that become sick and die??? So, is there a God? And if so, why does He or She let this happen? This sorta answers your question if you think about it. And I am not an atheist.

If I were 'God' I would abandon you. People really need to take a good look at themself & see what they are! Why bother to even ask this question. What's the point, they would just be computers then. Upon going to heaven 'God' would have to share existence with computers, how boring. Do you think any other life form would wish to take responsibilty for creating 'humans'? We evolved I'm sure, but we need to evolve a lot more metally, before there would be a life form out there willing to take the blame. I feel ashamed being around humans, they do such sick things as even aborting their own babies. Logic tells us consciousness, feeling etc exists in our species, but we make asumptions based upon appearace, just because we can't see it. Links in murder chains- like doctors, charities, who aprove embryo research, even those giving blood could be helping an abortionist & have their part in mureder etc etc. What we say is ethically acceptable is clearly wrong, but we don't stop it. So you have your answer. We see ourself as better than other life forms, but when the tables are turned & we could be the inferior. We can't accept it, we see ourselves as masters of the universe. Thus do we deserve to be helped, we don't help the other ignorant life forms. We are more likely to use them. Just because we say a higher being has the power to stop suffering, that doesn't make it true. It's like saying we could just stop killing if we wanted too. There has to be a will to want to do it, as well as a way. From what we have to go by 'God' offers only total destruction when all have become 'evil' & all hope is lost. It just seems like we are stuck in a game until we can get it right. But if true, it seems we will fail again & all go evil. Leaving only animals, human embryo & foetus' as the innocent w/o anyone non-evil to guide them. They would have to be put in 'heaven' I asume. Who knows, I'm not religious, there won't be a religion in existance that man won't have altered! They may be fairytales. But scientists live in a weirder dream world, thinking they can make all diseases/viruses etc extinct, it's never going to happen. New ones will just come about. But they believe in what they are doing.

Two options:

Jerk God or Not all powerful.

I am way too tired to do the whole essay, but it's really lovely to think about. Very... provocative.

Of course we should all just accept that it's not really a major issue, it's just another error and move on to realize that the idea of bad being man's fault is a good thing as it will spur us to do good.

Sorry bud. I know that sounds like a great plan and all but in the beginning thats how it was...there was no sin. But then eve just had to have the fruit off that tree. Your right...bad things happen because as much as God wants you to be good and do all that you can to worship him and spread his word he gives you free will.

So you would like to be God's darling puppet. He could joke you however He wanted. Not me. I am happy love Him back, but I would not like to be forced to love.

You are totally capable of doing the right thing, so why would you want God to make it right for you.

Be good. Voila-problem solved

People do make choices, good as well as not so good.
Not everything that happens to us is caused by those choices alone.

I recommend reading a book by Harold S. Kushner
called:
When bad things happen to good people.

Well, doesn't their behaviour define them as "good" or "bad" people? They can only act from their free will and then be defined as good or bad. The question was kinda confusing, I think I understood it correctly.

No, because even good people make mistakes. Nobody's perfect. Along along with that, people's views on what bad/good are change from individual to individual.

He made people perfect at the beginning. But, unfortunately, they chose to do wrong instead of obey God.
