This is one reason why I believe in predestination. If God has ordained you unto salvation, his decree will stand, no matter where you are on this earth. If he has not decreed you unto salvation, then you're living in the Amazon is only coincidental to your reprobation.
Christians participate in the salvation process, but they cannot claim that they did any saving, nor can you claim any glory for yourself in accepting. If God ordained your heart to be turned toward him rather than Satan and the ways of the world, he would fly a Christian out to the Amazon, guiding his footsteps to preach to you the word of God that would get you turned around. Make no mistake, an Almighty God possesses the absolute power -- as well as a love from eternity for you, the sinner who does not deserves salvation -- to give you a new heart, washed as white as snow, with a security that lasts from eternity, to eternity.

It is the job of the Holy Spirit to bring people to the knowledge of what Jesus has done. The Holy Spirit is everywhere and speaks to people's spirit (or Heart) In Solomon it says that the heart has an eternal hole (something has to fill it, heaven or hell). It says in the Bible that creation speaks about God and how wonderful He is. God is really great to be around. He is not mean or rude (I know some Christians come off that way). He is very funny, kind and compassionate. It would be worth your time to get to know Him.

Romans 1:18-21:
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.
I'm not entirely sure about God sending those people to heaven or hell, but you can be sure that He will be entirely just based upon their never hearing the gospel.

You are judged on how you judge and how much you know. You will not be judged for NOT hearing the gospel. The bible says when everyone has had a chance to be saved then the world would end. Would you blame your children for doing something wrong if they didn't know it was wrong? God is your Heavenly Father who loves you. He is not out to get those who are ignorant to the truth.

I beleive that people have sought out the truth. They all feel that there is a higher being. God revealed himself. If you live out in the Amazon then He will get the truth out there. Humans realize that they cannot do such things as creating the Earth then they realize that someone did. They will search out and find the truth.

I think the question is why does God allow us to know about him, but only from word of mouth?
Thats just how he did it...there is no explanation. But as the bible says the ppl who know about God and understand his teachings have a job. Our job is to go out to places in the world where they dont know about him and teach about him...God says he cant come back to get everyone until everyone has the opprotunity of choosing a life with him.

You do realize that you are **NOT** going to get a straight answer, don't you? It's going to be "He will 'reveal' Himself to you..."
**So if He will "reveal" Himself in "His creation", but it is made clear in the Bible that you need to accept JESUS in order to be saved, how will He get the message to the jungle guy that he needs to accept JESUS?
You might as well go ahead and start rolling, you'll be able to roll to China before you'll get anything resembling a legitimate response.

I believe those that search for God will find Him, regardless if they know His name. The creation declares the Glory.
