0_o a wedding is paid for in different parts and at different times at different venues. you do not need 20k all at once, but i suggest saving money before you get married, putting it on a card and going into debt is not good.
and a 20k credit limit is insane. 0_o

Don't even think about starting your married life $20,000 in debt! Only pay for what you can afford. A fancy wedding doesn't make you any more married in the end. My SIL spent $18K and ended up divorced 6 months later. Did you know that money is the number one cause of divorce? Save up, and have a cheap wedding if you have to.

There is no way you should go into debt over the wedding; that's NOT the way to start a marriage.
Just figure out how much the two of you can save in the year you will be planning your wedding through, and plan the number of guests and style of wedding based on what the two of you can afford.

I am not putting anything with the wedding on credit. I use my account and money I have NOW towards the wedding, that way I don't go into my marriage in debt.
Set aside a certain amount each paycheck, cut back on frivolous things, use your income tax refund towards the wedding.
I would not use credit to pay for a wedding.

If you do not have $20,000 in cash to pay for a $20,000 wedding, then your wedding is unaffordable, and you should have a less expensive wedding. It's a mistake to go into debt to pay for a wedding. Save that money for a house and emergencies.

We took out a personal loan to pay most of our expenses. We saved as much as we could while we were engaged and then borrowed the rest of the cash that we needed about a month before the wedding. Most services only require a deposit to begin with and then final payment will be due usually about a week before the wedding. The wedding dress and the deposit on the venue will probably be the biggest expenses prior to the wedding.

my advice..pay as much as you can up front in cash so you can make a profit on your wedding instead of being in the hole. many places only take cash for payment so beware. save save save, and if that's not possible, consider alternatives. winter is the cheapest month to get married, buy a discount dress, order flowers wholesale, go w/ just a photographer and not a video too. there are lots of ways to have an elegant and afforable wedding. good luck!

you should have the money saved up, however after just going through a wedding, you need to put everything you can on a credit card, because if anything goes wrong you can contest it on your card, try getting cash back.

We saved up and paid for things along the way, we got a bill in, saved up the amount and then paid it off.
