What does that mean to you?
We are told in Genesis that God created the sun and the moon "for SIGNS and for seasons" (Gen 1:14). "And I shall show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath..." (Acts 2:19).

The Bible declares that this will be particularly true of the Last Days. Jesus Himself warned of this 'End-time' period: "And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and GREAT SIGNS shall there be from heaven... And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars" (Mt 21:11,25). The Bible even talks of the moon being "turned to blood" as a sign that we are nearing the very end of the age. (Joel 2:31, Rev 6:12).

Significantly, there has already been ONE BLOOD-RED MOON AND ONE 'SACK-CLOTH' MOON (caused by lunar eclipses) over Jerusalem in 1996 and 1997, falling precisely on major feast-days of the Jewish calendar

Why can't it mean Mayan Calendar, UFO's Solar Martian Dust Storms.

Red moons and lunar eclipses have been around a long time. Check out a copy of the World Almanac and you'll find a big long list of them. There isn't anything too miraculous about them.

A lot of stuff you're just hearing more about (earthquakes, tsunami, etc.) because of media and the internet. Our world is getting (socially) smaller. It doesn't mean it's the end times. People have been crying wolf for close to 2000 years now.

Actually, the Mayans were great astronomers and based so much of their day-to-day living in coordination with the position of the sun, moon, planets, and stars. Recent archeological discoveries have found entire cities built specifically to line up with the position of the sun and stars during both solstices, and based their planting and harvesting around their star calendars.
We have the sun turn to blood every night from the smoke of wildfires here in California. California gets earthquakes that collapse entire city blocks. And how about that entire town in Kansas being wiped out by a tornado?
We attribute these things to God because of His direct communication with the prophets of old, and it was written down for us to read. It is happening just as it is written in the bible. We don't attribute these things to the Gods of other religions or cultures because we don't have enough of their writings, their predictions, their clearly direct communications with their deity for comparison. The bible says these things clearly, the other writings make little or no mention of such things, (at least, that I have found in my studies)

There's been more "red moons" and lunar eclipses than that. Red moons are caused by excess dust in the upper atmosphere.

It's not the end times. I'm planning a vacation beginning December 22, 2012. Of course, the world is supposed to end the day before, but I'm not concerned.

this is no longer probable a question, this is a non secular rant yet i will answer: for sure being an Atheist, I even have seen no sign that shows to me that god exists. The evidence you rant approximately speaks to YOU, no longer me. sure, i understand, you're christian, there for you won't be able to be incorrect. i do no longer 'seem forward' to darkness, I purely settle for that that's what probable will ensue (however i'm no longer as particular as you, I settle for that i don't comprehend all of it. Quoting the bible to me is incomprehensible, you're able to besides quote Harry Potter (Order of the Phoenix) which grow to be written greater constructive and greater compelling. I even have greater understand for Martin Luther King and Malcolm X who I have not any doubt died for me (a black toddler in the 60's denied rights as a citizen) If I did have faith the words you quoted, i could hate the offended violent god which you worship.

I believe this goes along with the sun being scorching, and then darkened, and the star "wormwood" falling and other signs such as comets, asteroids, and meteors crashing into the earth.

You better believe what God says, and his words are written in the bible... God came with flood the last time, and said he will return with fire, which will be the SUN... Yes, the SUN and the Earth will colide.
