Budget your money use it wisely on important things through that you can save money on food. First of all, NEVER go shopping on an empty stomach!! That's a must. This way you won't be inclined to pick up everything in site just because you're starving. Next get a local shopping mailer or two & compare prices. I get things that are only on sale, unless I really am out & need them. Start picking up a few things that are on sale that you know at one time or another you'll use them. Build yourself a little stock in case you're short on money one wk. & these things w/be a God send to you. Otherwise, buy just what you need. If you have two grocery stores near by, make a list for each one & get the "sale" items at each place. Always go w/a list & try not to deviate from it. This usually works well I've found. When you do have a bit extra, that's when you do a little stocking & it w/come in handy at some time in the future. You can be sure of that.

I live about a half an hour away from you, and I know there are some farmer's markets that meet in a few different places in Washington. You can buy organic vegetables for really cheap at most of them. I bought enough vegetables to fill up two crispers and a mini fridge and I spent under $25. I went to one on Aurora, somewhere in the Edmonds/Lynnwood area. It may be a little far for you to drive, but the prices are pretty amazing. If you want an address for that one (I can't remember it off the top of my head) email me at nikkisongbird@yahoo.com

Learn to cook. Never pay more than 2.49 a pound for any red meat and no more than .59-1.99 a pound for poultry. Get one of those store cards so you can scoop up those sale items. Resist the urge to buy any snack foods that are not on sale. Stay away from prepared foods like frozen entrees and lunch meats. Learn to clip coupons for extra savings. However, save a little on the side to treat yourself on weekends. Life IS about living!
