But it's against God's word! Never mind separation of church and state, God is against it and I think it's disgusting! I hate the constitution and want to deny a certain people their rights as citizens just because one religion in my country says so! Wrong, I tell you! I'm a homophobic idiot, but at least I can safely say I'm helping out America by not letting two people who love each other who happen to have the same genitalia marry.

Well...im not against gay marriage but this point of view has a flaw I think. Theres plenty of ways something which is present in a culture could harm everyone involved, even if not in some violent way. In some ancient cultures, what we now call child molestation was a normal and acceptable practice. But I wouldnt be happy with legislation allowing 11 yr olds marrying their 45 yr old teachers...even tho technically, fine it wouldnt hurt me personally...in a direct way. Its a question of culture, ok? culture is a variable, depends on how you were raise- if you were raised in 20 AD in Saxony, for example, you would probably be happy with 'trial by combat'- obviously unacceptable to modern humans. Law effecting culture is oppresive when it does not reflect the culture of the people. I suppose you just have to wonder whether or not homosexuality is a legitimate part of our culture....
Since obviously it is, you should argue the other way...not that legislation against it is wrong because their marriage doesnt hurt anyone- rather legislation is wrong because it is oppresive, because they are a part of this society.

Why should anyone "shut the hell up" if they honestly believe something to be wrong ?
I , like most heterosexuals , didn`t give a rat`s behind about gays , or how they lived their lives , until they began demanding this , demanding that , having "gay pride" days and parades , and demanding the right to be married etc .
They`ve made it obvious they have an agenda , and are going public with it wherever and whenever the opportunity arises . Why are they so obssessed with "gay rights" , and "gay sex" ?
I for one , do NOT want my children or grandchildren exposed to gays , or their lifestyle ! I have that right just as much as gays have their right to be "gay" and to live their lives as such !
Why can`t gays "shut the hell up" as you put it , and not make a big public display of their sexual preferences the same way heterosexuals do , and have always done ? It`s this that`s caused many people to hate them , and NOT the fact that they`re gay .

freedums, AIDS is currently growing fastest among heterosexual people and IV drug users because many have refused to accept education on safe sex and needle practise. Not to mention the fact that the US government refuses to consider a needle exchange so in conclusion
Educate yourself, use condoms, do not reuse needles.
This was your friendly public service announcement.
**As to the question, I will provide an opinion when asked but I do not feel that I should try to force it on anyone. I do believe the practice of homosexuality is sinful. According to the definition of marriage as I know it, this means they will be practicing this behavior. Therefore, according to my biblical beliefs I must be against this practice. I believe that issues like this one should be put to a public vote; if that happens I will have the opportunity to vote according to my standards as will everyone else. I have little confidence in Congress and I think many issues should be brought before the American people so that we may decide for ourselves and actually get something done. I think that this would probably increase voter turnout as well.

Hey I don't give a sh--it if they live together and do their sewer pipe thing, as for marriage simply out of the question, their motive is to receive the same benefits of a straight couple, and they dam well don't deserve that, their life style stems from the gutters of squalor, and you can bet it affects society, and we have been paying for it today, so don't tell us to shut the hell it's a filthy immoral act and you know it.

That's what I'm sayin!!! B!tches need to get a life! But i heard on the news before that people don't want gays to marry because then they think there's nothing to stop some guy from marrying his cow or something. Like they're even at all similar. I know its stupid but that's what i heard. No i know why because THE BIBLE says it's not right. Find me one gay couple who were made less of a Christian or not a good person for being gay. Does the Bible not teach tolerance. Hypocrites!

I'm all for gay marriages :P. It's against God's will? I believe God's will is like the Tao's will (when comparing to Taoism), nothing can go against it, and what does, will quickly be terminated. Like people levitating o_O. But if God DOES not like it, do you know his wants and thoughts? no :P. If he doesn't, why should YOU INFORCE IT!?!?!?! God himself will ultimately judge EVERYONE (according to Christian beliefs).
It's not natural? PFFT! We all know that's a lie. You know people in acient times? like the acient greeks? When they tried to be as natural as they could. GUESS WHAT! They did homosexual activities.
Why should WE have to power to restrict rights of them? Honestly, we are people, they are people. Why is YOUR thoughts about it more right than theirs?
You're scared it might make your children think it is acceptable? WHY? Because they might choose to be homosexual? PFFT! So you try to control them with fear -.-
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!
Edit: LOL! You have the right to control your grandchildrens lives as much as someone has the right to control his own? lol!

i'm fine with gay relationships, but i don't agree with gay marriage. the definition of marry (at least in my dictionary) says to join as husband and wife; unite in wedlock. now, this doesn't mean u can't find a loop hole and call it civil union or whatever u want, but i still won't agree with it. i think gay people are just trying to "prove" that what they do is alright, and all religions aside, if nature wanted people to be gay, it would have made us all hermaphrodites.

i am from Spain and in here gay marriage is legal since two years back, religious people in here said that they were not against gay marriage as an idea but about gay marriage being called marriage...i think it is absurd if you are not against something you dont care about how is it called...problem is they dont accept it but they dont want to sound politically incorrect so they just use the name thing as an excuse

I have yet to hear a compelling argument why one pair of consenting adults can get married but another pair cannot. All I have heard so far are such non-arguments such as it's not natural, the bible condemns it, or marriage was meant to be for a man and a woman.
