Sorry but it was her mistake and now she will have to live with it. Once your lease is up you could suggest getting your own places until she learns to live within her means as long as you are there to bail her out financially she will never learn. Been there done that...

And you drive the ten year old clunker. Economics 101 would tell me if I could not afford a down payment not to get into a car payment of 650 for a lease. (BY THE WAY) must be a Cadillac SUV for that price. If it is lesser car that's her fault. MY 32,000 car costs 430 month and I will own it in 6 years. Women can't live with them... Can't live with out them. Coax her love her but you need to express the amount she is paying and your savings goals were shot down. Leasing a SUV has cost you both moving into that Dream home. Wouldn't 13,000 go a long way for a new house! A old Ford Taurus could of done fine for 3 years and cost 10,000 with repairs and new tires. Keep a level head girls just like to look good driving around. ##### 23,000 dollars nothing to show for it I feel your pain!

You have to put your foot down. That is completely terrible, she is taking advantage of you, it is not your right to pay for things for her. It is obvious that she is a mooch, taking money from an ex-husband, even buying implants when she knows that she didn't have enough to afford them! That is irresponsible and she doesn't care! She needs to get her priorities straight and you need to let her know this! No... you are not being too hard, are you kidding me? Look, if there is a place for ultimatums....this instance calls for one......Tell her that if she doesn't get her act together then you are out of there. She needs to get a JOB...find away to move out of her parents house...its tough but oh well!

This should be a clue to how she feels about the relationship and what her behavior will be like if you got married (or bought a house with her.) You should inform her that she paid a poor choice and that you do not plan on saving for a down payment all on your own.

The problem is you both have to be in agreement financially to make any headway in life. She has pretty much shown you what she thinks of you and your idea's. She has made mistakes in her past and hasn't learned any lessons from them. I doubt she ever will, why would you want to buy a house with this person?

Not really car related, but statistically the majority of marriages that fail, do so because of money issues. Personally I'd drop here like a hot potato, but that's just me.
