I am 5"9 in my early 20's, and I have a very small frame with long legs... For most of my life I have always looked very under weight. A few years ago, I gained alot of weight, and was actually overweight..... But I lost it all (it was mainly medication I was on that caused me to gain it).
I eat so much, and I'm not talking healthy... I'm talking burgers, pizza, junk food, etc. And I still look scrawny. ... I am constantly having people come up to me and look at me in disgust when they ask how I lost so much weight.... I can tell that they think I'm anoerxic. This is making me so self concious. I have gotten to the point where I dont even want to go anywhere because I hate the way my body looks.... IS there anything I can do to create more shape? or certain clothes I can wear?? anything...

Firstly, I think that its disgusting that people care so much about how other people look, and react in such a way to make someone feel so horrible about themselves. I know its hard, but try your best to ignore them. They do not matter anyway.
But consuming greasy fast-foods is NOT the way to go. You may not notice a change in your weight, but other parts of your body suffer when you make such food choices.
However, there is something you can do to get rid of the 'scrawney' look. You have what is called an 'ectomorphic' body somatotype. body type is characterized by long arms and legs and a short upper body, and supposedly have a higher proportion of nervous tissue. They also have long and thin muscles. Ectomorphs usually have a very low fat storage; therefore they are usually referred to as slim. It is usually very difficult for ectomorphs to gain weight or muscle, so you might have to be a little patient.
The best thing for you to do is probably muscle train and build up muscle strength, as well as eat a healthy diet. Go to http://www.mypyramid.gov/mypyramid/index.aspx to figure out how many calories you need every day to sustain your weight. Also on that website, (http://www.mypyramid.gov), you can research a healthy and balanced diet for yourself, so that you gain weight in a healthy way.
About muscle strength training, your best bet is to go to a gym or other establishment where you can get a personalized training plan, so that you can benefit more from your time spend working out (if you choose to do so).
However, the best thing to do is talk to your doctor, or go see a nutritionist to help you gain weight safetly. This is VERY IMPORTANT. Although you may gain weight by eating unhealthy foods, the rest of your body WILL SUFFER if you do not have a balanced and nutritious meal. I can not stress this enough.
Good luck.

Hmmm . . . I would suggest eating the same amount, but less often. That allegedly slows the metabolism. Also, get more sleep. The rule of thumb is to eat roughly 15 times more calories than the weight you want to be at (in lbs), plus whatever calories you burn from exercise. Oh yeah, and don't agonize about the way you look . . . the stress will make you lose weight. Good night!

I feel ya. I'm 5'8" and 137lbs. I work out every night doing pushups and situps and i dont seem to gain any muscle mass. I eat and eat all the time but never gain weight. I have very skinny arms and legs.
I guess if you were on a structured workout plan (i wish i could, but i have no gym to goto) and had lots of protein you could gain muscle mass and you wouldn't look so scrawny. If anyone gives you **** thought just beat em up and show them whos really scrawny.

saturated fats (burgers, pizza etc.) will not help. consuming good fats like red meats, chicken, essential oils, fish will increase mass but just as important are the healthy foods such a fruit and vegetables which help the body absorb the fats instead of passing them. increase milk intake (not a shake) drink milk and eat high GI fruits before bed. also build a little muscle do not burn all of your consumed calories just twenty minutes of low intensity weights

Maybe you wear baggy clothes and that makes you look more thin. Maybe it's in ur genes. My cousin eats loads of sweets, fat etc, never gains a pound and she is SKINNY and If I so much as touch such a thing i look like a beach-ball! Try wearing something tight, but not too tigh. And one meal a day eat someting rich in fat but not fried. Lots of meat, butter, cream and cashew nuts. Good luck!

tell them to shut the f*** up and tell them their being rude. SOme people can't help how their body looks, it's uncontrolable. Would they go up to a fat person and say something to them about being fat? I don't think so. I hope this helps sweetheart. But i don't know what you can do to put on weight, in fact i'm trying to lose it! Goodluck! :)

I thoroughly agree! it rather is fairly stressful while they act like the sufferer, and that they choose help, yet they don't choose for to even the factors, they choose for to overthrow men. i in my opinion think of for an excellent sort of them, it rather is purely them getting over excited, or they're performing out of previous incidents that harm them. the commonplace public of feminists are unlike that (thank goodness), yet those that are intense are many times thoroughly out of line and ignorant to the actual issues. they choose for to combat, and refuse to agree that issues have replaced, or they only delight in being rebellious through fact they seem to be a woman.
