There are a few things you can do to keep your bird cool in the summer blaze, here are a few ideas:

1.every couple of hours get a plant spray bottle, fill it with water and put it on the mist setting, sprat your bird a couple of times, if your bird stretches out its wings and preens itself while your are doing this, keep going, but not for too long, do NOT soak your bird.

2. Get a shallow plate or something (not too shallow) and half fill it with lukewarm wate, put this in your birds cage and just gently introducethe plate of water to them, they should enjoy this, i use this method at home =)

here are some things NOT to do.

1. DO NOT put your bird near a breezy window. It may change thei bodily tempurature too much.

2.DO NOT put your bird near a door, this applies not just in the heat but all the time.

3.DO NOT but a fan directly next to your bird.

Hope i have helped =)

Well, I use air conditioning in my house so that's an easy way :P Of course, there is talks of possible toxins placed into the air from the use of ac, but as with all things there is going to be a danger. Fans blowing directly onto the bird is a definite no no. I'd say the best is to always keep fresh water at hand to prevent dehydration, and giving the bird a daily misting or bath and keep out of direct sunlight.

You didn't specify what type of birds?

Most parrots are from tropical climates and love the heat, just ensure they have lots of water and food, a bath for bathing in is good and they should be good to go.

i have a blue and gold macaw which comes from tropical areas anyways. but other than that keeping cold water in the cage constantly. another tip would be hanging an old damp rag in the cage, from time to time re-wet it, this gives your bird the option of going over to an area of the cage and getting wet on their own. and although your bird may seem like it doesnt like getting wet, spraying it will also help and secretly they really do like it

If your bird likes a bath then provide one every afternoon.
