depending if u'r a person that makes everyone take off their shoes when they come into the house... u could go w/ about any color. Everything will show stains depending on what it is stained with. If u have kids, u may want to stay away from light colors. Pets.. like dogs... darker colors won't show as mch. ( i have dogs & have what they call exspresso ) but for lasting wear & tear... u need to get a carpet that is high & low pile... & i'm not familiar w/ all the carpets out there now... but berber is the best for low & high pile & somewhat more expensive. But it does endure.

also, what is gonna make u'r carpet wear longer.... is the padding. DON"T b afraid to UPGRADE to the top for padding it will help w/ the last of u'r carpet.

So i would suggest... low/high pile mix... poss. a design but not necessaridly a print & great padding... & get SPOT SHOT... it really works on any stain on the carpet.

hope that helps

Next time you go to the pub, have a look at the floor. Pub carpets have to stand more wear & tear and stains than your home carpet ever will. They seem to go for patterns in dark red/brown in my experience.

Go for a latte colour in a hard wearing fabric. Avoid terracota, i've got it in my front room and it's the worst carpet colour i've ever had for showing wear and tear, stains etc.

Those natural fibre carpets are great. They come in different shades of browns and look lovely.

Wish I had gone for that instead of the cream carpets I have!! Have to get them steam cleaned every 3-6 months, even though we dont wear shoes in the house!

a really good quality green one, not some rubbish one where all of it is completely green either, a good one with red and light green, and dark green fibres. trust me it looks alot nicer that it sounds, and the dark brown and red makes alot of minor stains blend aslong as the stains arn't a big splodge of acrylic paint. Plus any good quality carpet will not have that much wear and tear to hide anyway!!

Put on a pair of shoes that picks up dirt.
Run all around the property, then all around the house.
Sit down, and shake off the shoes onto a white paper towel.
What color do you see the most?
That's your color!
Some areas have brown dirt, some rust-colored, some charcoal gray.
Don't go too light or too dark - they both show dirt, hair, and lint. A mid-range shade in a color or a neutral works best
for disguising dirt.

If you don't care what it looks like, then dark green has been proven to be the best concealer of stains and wear. Thats why a lot of crappy offices use it.

Cream, magnolia.

Even though it looks light and easy to stain, tear, wear they are usually amazingly resilient.

Have a look around there not bad on price either.

Patterned ones! I had a dark blue one which showed stains, so went with my dream one after, a cream one, which ironically isn't that bad considering I have a six year old, dog & cat. But a patterned one would hide all!
