Considering the nature of cerebral palsy (I have a few friends with it), I'm not too surprised that it's showing up as pain in your back. You're probably also having difficulty maintaining good posture- which would also cause back pain.

Try asking about exercises to strengthen your back and abdomen muscles, and improve your posture. It won't hurt, in any case.

Ask your doctor about other possible causes of back trouble too- such as arthritis. Believe it or not, it can show up in young people such as yourself.

Good luck!

There are a couple things that could be going on. You can go on WebMD to the "My Symptom Checker" and see if any of it adds up for you. I don't know if you are having muscle spasicity due to the CP or stress, posture, etc. Often upper back pain is related to stress, posture, and backpacks. You may have scoliosis. Being that you are only 16, I would see a doctor and get it evaluated. With the CP, sometimes nerve signals get crossed and you have pain even though you are structurally fine.

If you see a doctor and have health insurance, physical therapy could really help a lot of symptoms and make you feel waaaay better. It is amazing how much better they can make things with heat, electrical stimulation, and proper exercises and positioning. I would talk to your specialist and see what is going on. Watch your posture--do not hunch when sitting. Purposely relax and clear your head as well. Have someone massage it with some aspercreme for you. For nerve pain, lidocaine patches can be a big help. I wish you the best.
