I wore glasses for a year before I got contacts. That was really only because my mom wouldnt let me get contacts til then, and the only reason she did is because I hated my glasses so much that I never wore them. I was 15 then. 10 years later the only time I wear glasses is when I need to give my eyes a break and to clean my contacts.

For all intents and purposes, there is no time limit nor do you even have to have glasses first at all. Some docs are learing of giving younger ppl contacts, but I think that differs from doc to doc and is dependant on how responsible you are (as in will you take them out and clean them as you are supposed to)

I cannot wear contacts and have been wearing glasses since 1958....I suffer from a condition known as SEVERE DRY EYE.... my corneas have cracked and are covered with lesions (tiny healed over scars)...my eyesight is always blurred even WITH the glasses.. But the point here is that there ARE some people who, for whatever reasons, cannot wear contacts. but, usually you can get them from the time you are about 15 or 16--

Most of the time, ophthalmologists like to wait until around the ages of 16-19 to give contacts out. This is the age when your eye stops changing.

Hope this helps!

that is an entirely personal choice, my son never did wear glasses, he chose to go straight to contacts.
