Aqua blue and tans are what come to mind when thinking of a beach wedding. But if you want elegant and romantic I don't think those are as appropriate. I don't know what time of day you're planning on getting married, or if you'll be a on beach that has a western horizon line. But if I were going for the elegance and romantic theme I'd play off colors from the sun set. Maybe a rich, deep violet/purple with accents of a vibrant orange-red. Those colors would pop and give you something fun and different without losing the elegance. Remember, purple is often associated with royalty.
Other options are medium to dark blues again with accents of orange or maybe yellow.
If you were getting married during the daytime I'd suggest a crisp white and a true blue.
Think about other aspects you like on the beach and their colors also to help you come up with more ideas.

So, try to think of it this way...if you weren't having the wedding on the beach, what colors would you choose? When you consider the neutral tones of sand, sky and water, you can add almost anything to this, and not be in contrast with your surroundings.
When I think "elegant on the beach", I see a Martha Stewart lobster bake...lots of white, in the tents and adirondack beach chairs. Perhaps white-on-white would work...Martha Stewart's Winter (I think) edition of Weddings Magazine shows a lot on how to use white as the base for your wedding...could be helpful.
Having the wedding on the beach will probably accomplish all the "beachyness" you need.

Firstly, if you have a favourite colour, go for it otherwise I would suggest red as it is always classified as a romantic colour and would add a bright and cheerful touch to a beach wedding. If you don't like red, then I would definately go with a bright colour. Pale colours would blend in but wouldn't add that sparkle I assume you are looking for.
When the beach is covered in bright umbrellas, towels etc, it makes me feel happy to be there, dull colours makes me feel depressed.

We're having a beach destination wedding, followed by a "reception" in our hometown a little later...our colors will be a sandy color and a pale sea blue (sand and sea)..it makes a lovely backdrop, and is very elegant looking together.

Creame and Steel Blue
Yellow and gray (sounds odd but looks beutiful)
Citrine green and orange (very fresh and elegant)
Stick with lighter colors and stay away from dark moody ones. Let the beach be your backdrop and the colors are just there as an accent.

My first thoughts were either baby blue and butter yellow, or something really tropical, like fuschia....
But I also like chocolate brown and blue, and pink and brown....
What's your favorite color. I found that the best way to chose my color was to start looking online at Bridesmaids dresses, and see which color strikes you. Just stay calm, it will come to you and no matter what you chose it will look great. There is NO reason to get frustrated.
Good look, it will be beautiful!!!
Congrats too!

I think aqua blue and white with maybe a few silver things/ribbons thrown in would look very nice for a beach wedding.
Congrats!

White as your main color, a blue that matches what ever color the water is and a beautiful bright orange to accent everything, center pieces, bouquets, etc. I had just my maid of honor in that bright color, a couple of flowers in every bouquet, etc...a single bell at every table. It sounds crazy but test it out, it looks great.
