I'm a bit confused by your question. If someone "close" to you has been diagnosed with a psychological disorder, they are going to need you. Some disorders can be maintained quite successfully with medication. Some are dealt with effectively with counselling. Some require combinations of therapies.

What do you mean "What are your thoughts on that person?" Are you asking if psychological disorders are "real" sickness? Or whether the person should be viewed as "weak" or somehow responsible for the condition? Would you feel the same way about someone who was diagnosed with breast cancer or a brain tumor? A person with a psychological disorder is just as ill, needs just as much compassion and care as anyone diagnosed with a physical illness. There are organizations for family members and support systems for people with mental illness. Perhaps one of these could help you.

I don't have any problems with people suffering from psychological disorders. I mean when I was a kid I had post traumatic stress disorder and I've known many people with other disorders. The truth is that I just them as regular people who've got problems and really don't treat them any differently from people with immune disorders or cancer, because in the end we've all got our problems and throughout are lifetime we find ways to deal with them and move on.
