In John 14:6 Jesus states that HE is the way the truth and the life, that no man can come to the Father but by Him-- Yet Brigham Young taught that no man can go to heaven without Joseph Smith's consent. Who do Mormon's believe, Christ or Brigham Young? Who are you going to trust, Christ or a sinful man?
Here's the documentation.
"From the day that the priesthood was taken from the earth to the winding up things of all things, every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are -- I with you and you with me. I cannot go there without his consent" (Journal of Discourses 7:238. See also Search These Commandments, 1984, pg. 133).

I don't trust no Man in his writting about religions! People are bold to take charge of your life if you allow them. It's all about the money!!!
I'll go to heaven or hell on my own accord.

Who do I trust more, Christ or a "prophet"? Is this sort of like the question, who would win in a fight, Moses or Abraham? How about Christ versus God the Father?
Who do you trust more, Jesus or His Father?
Who do you trust more, Peter, James, John, or Paul? Abraham, Issac, or Jacob? Can we pick and choose which prophets we will trust and follow, and which ones we will not follow?
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) Mormons believe that with all their hearts. And they also believe that Jesus gave Peter the keys of the kingdom. Do you suppose that if you had lived in the early days of the Church you could have followed Jesus while thumbing your nose at Peter? Do you suppose at any time you could truthfully be said to be following Jesus and putting to death His prophets?
The prophets are the servants of the Lord. When you dishonor the prophets you dishonor the Lord. When you follow the prophets you follow the Lord.
If, and I say if, it turns out that Joseph Smith must give his consent before you can go to heaven, you can be sure that it will be because Jesus gave that honor to Joseph Smith, while Jesus remains the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus calls and establishes His prophets, and they act in accordance with the will of Jesus. So naturally to be rejected by Joseph Smith would merely be a manifestation of the will of Jesus.
It is not a matter of trusting Christ more than a prophet. It is simply a matter of trusting Christ in the way Christ chooses to operate. Do you trust God?

Maybe if you read what he said directly before this, it might make more sense.
>>I can tell our beloved brother Christians who have slain the Prophets and butchered and otherwise caused the death of thousands of Latter-day Saints, the priests who have thanked God in their prayers and thanksgiving from the pulpit that we have been plundered, driven, and slain, and the deacons under the pulpit, and their brethren and sisters in their closets, who have thanked God, thinking that the Latter-day Saints were wasted away, something that no doubt will mortify them-something that, to say the least, is a matter of deep regret to them-namely, that no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith. From the day that the Priesthood was taken from the earth to the winding-up scene of all things..."
He was speaking about those who persecuted the Saints, tried to destroy the church.

Joseph Smith restored the gospel to the world and translated the Book of Mormon through the power of God. None except Chris has done so much for the salvation of the world. Shouldn't he have a say? And if Brigham Young said this, than I believe it!

The head of our church is Jesus Christ, even till his second coming, so your question is totally a misinterpretation of our doctrine.
Joseph Smith is the first Prophet of this dispensation, he will be our judge,,just like the disciples such as Peter James and John will be the judges of the jews, this is a delegation authority from Christ, not a replacement of Christ.
Go read more of our doctrines before you make a mockery of your self.

Why should I answer this with respect to you? You haven't shown any to what I believe. What you have copied and pasted was taken out of context and is something one man said. Just because we consider him a prophet doesn't mean that he didn't have his own opinion. Not everything he said was revelation, or from God. He might have been a man of God, but that doesn't mean he was never wrong about anything!!! Take a look at the other prophets in the bible, maybe you will learn something!
Until then, be respectful to what I believe and maybe do some research! I'll even post a link to a site that can answer some of your questions. Maybe you will learn something!!

Christ of course. He is the leader of our faith. I don't care what anyone says, but the Journal of Discourses ARE NOT doctrine, even if Brigham Young said his words should be considered such. It takes a lot for something to be included doctrine.

This is an interesting Conundrum. You use the bible to make a point towards god, yet you use a quote from a collection of books that no one has read seriously for about 50 years. Were is the equality in this argument. That would be like me bashing Southern Baptists by using the Bible and the Apocrypha. I am a member of the LDS Fayth but I will not answer this question, due to its' lack of substance. I know were my faith and allegiance lies, do you?

Mormonism is simply another 'twist' on christianity, albeit with more rules and regulations than a US Nuclear Sub Operations manual. Fortunately The FSM has restored his one true church on earth, and if you choose not to believe in Him/It, no big deal
crzysnik18- Your took nearly a paragraph to explain why you won't answer? Why not simply "not answer"?

the more i learn about the mormons the more and more i feel that they are a CULT. i have mormon friends and before i started investigating, i thought their church was a church just like any other, with an extra book. wrong. the mormons will tell you they believe Christ, but they believe a ton of stuff that can't be accounted for in the Bible that comes as "revelation" from their prophet. you're right, Jesus is the way the truth and the light. i am so thankful that the holy spirit has given me the ability to discern what is and isn't from God. i don't care if the mormons are upset by how i feel or think i'm hypocritical...i feel pain for them because they spend their lives devoted to a bunch of stuff that is neither from God nor the way to God.
edit: this church also twists scripture to make it fit their beliefs. they interpret it in ways that many christians would not agree with.
