This is called "central obesity" and has nothing to do with drinking beer. Central obesity is associated with visceral fat ("organ fat"), a condition in which fat is deposited around the internal organs. This condition is associated with increased risk for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. This type of fat, however, is usually the first to be used by the body when the obese person begins eating healthy and exercising. If this individual does not have a health problem causing his belly to swell, he should see his physician for a recommended diet and exercise program.

local doctors diagnosed "beer belly"? I doubt that. First off it isn't a medical diagnosis, second it would be totally unprofessional. Without knowing the actually measurement in the change of girth on this man, there is no way to assess what might be causing it, even then without blood work results there is still no complete answer....... but with the limited info here, I would say he got fat and lazy after getting married.

Studies have shown that men that aquire the apple shape in their middriff are more prone to heart associated aliments.

There's a logical explaination for this. Simple sugars, starchse, and carbs. They can be found in corn, juice, and white bread. They digest repidly, so if you're not doing jumping jacks while you have your morning orange juice and Wonder bread toast, it's going to go straight to your waist. Men typically put on weight there first. It's just genetics.

He is probably just putting on weight there. Different body types put fat in different places. Losing weight and exercising will most likely get rid of it.
