To say that September 11 proves that the Muslim religion is violent is a... stereotype and a misconception. That's like saying all Chinese people are communist and all Russians love the Soviet Union. Those who attacked September 11 were not Muslims; they were simply terrorists.

About 5 years ago, I read an article in US Weekly about the prejudices surround 9/11. A true Muslim is peace-loving person; they do not advocate violence. As the article was saying, the Attack really swayed people to think one way about Muslims, that they are violent and...expressive. However, as the article noted, Islam does not preach violence so those who called themselves "Muslims" and at the same time run planes full of innocent lives into trade centers and those who say "For Allah" are basically shaming and blaming in on the Islamic religion; they are basically trying to set up scapegoat by saying it "was Allah's will" or whatever crap they say. The main point is that those behind 9/11 had no right to call themselves Muslims.

The reason being that Islam is a peace-loving religion. No religion (not even Satanism) tells you that you should go around and kill as many people as you can. I don't have a degree in theology but I can tell you this, religions simply don't advocate violence. Rather, it is a philosophy or a culture that promotes such act (like the whole, honor to your family, honor to your clan mindset). Therefore, to say Muslims are not peace-loving is wrong because everyone loves peace and Muslims are no exception.

Of course, we are referring to the religion itself and not the followers or the disciples but those who call themselves followers should adhere to the tenets of the religion they claim to follow, right?

Additionally, we would probably all agree that Christianity is a peace-loving religion (again, it's a bias), but looking back at history, what's up with the Crusades and the religious wars that occurred during the Reformation?

Mankind is not perfect, meaning to say humans are not perfect. We are violent in nature (some, most of us), but that is our own fault, our own... foible. However, Islam itself does not advocate violence and neither does any religion. So to answer your question: Islam (the Muslim religion) IS a peace loving religion, but so is Christianity, Buddhism, and Hinduism.

It should also be noted that the Bible bears many references to war, violence, and God's active role in such conflicts, but that is an issue to be expounded by those who study theology and by those who have the right to defend said scripture.

The "Muslim Religion" is called Islam.

The Western Media has caused the west to believe in their point of view, and only giving one side of the story blinds the people viewing: that is almost everybody. The Media has forced its viewers to believe that Islam is a violent, bloody, intolerant religion, but in reality this is actually the opposite. If people would stop accepting their television sets as their teachers, more people would know the actual truth about Islam. The Media reports misleading stories, gross exaggerations, inaccurate information, and false statements about Islam and Muslims to undermine the religion, and unfortunately, this propaganda is a success--many many Americans believe everything they hear on the news or read in the newspaper. What they fail to realize is that what they read/hear is only one point of view of a bias Media that has been criticizing Muslims with false information vigorously since 9/11.

Terrorism is CONDEMNED in Islam; it is not allowed. Neither is innocent murder, or forced conversions. These are all misleading fabrications composed by the Media. You can't always believe what you hear.

Terrorists are not true Muslims; they use Islam as a mask to cover up their dirty work, and give Islam a bad name. It is not fair for the majority of Muslims, who oppose terrorism and denounce violence that is occurring. Unfortunately, the Media will never let this be known, making it look like Muslims support these radical actions, when in reality they absolutely do not.

Definitely. Islam itself means PEACE. Have u not read simply just the translation of Quraan ? Everywhere it teaches peace, truth, honesty & justice for all , even the enemies. Use of minimum possible force is permitted for defensive purposes as the last resort & not from the beginning itself & for offensive purposes. Those people who did the opposite are not Muslims at all by definition itself & Muslims are not responsible & answerable for them.

YES IT IS. And the minority of radicals are hypocrites. Islam itself is nothing but peace.

WHAT DOES ISLAM HAVE TO SAY ABOUT TERRORISM?

Islam, a religion of mercy, does not permit terrorism. In the Quran, God has said:

“God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers.” (Quran 60:8)

The Prophet Muhammad, may God praise him, used to prohibit soldiers from killing women and children,and he would advise them: “...Do not betray, do not be excessive, do not kill a newborn child.” And he also said: “Whoever has killed a person having a treaty with the Muslims shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise, though its fragrance is found for a span of forty years.”

Also, the Prophet Muhammad has forbidden punishment with fire.

He once listed murder as the second of the major sins,and he even warned that on the Day of Judgment, “The first cases to be adjudicated between people on the Day of Judgment will be those of bloodshed.”

Muslims are even encouraged to be kind to animals and are forbidden to hurt them. Once the Prophet Muhammad said: “A woman was punished because she imprisoned a cat until it died. On account of this, she was doomed to Hell. While she imprisoned it, she did not give the cat food or drink, nor did she free it to eat the insects of the earth.”

He also said that a man gave a very thirsty dog a drink, so God forgave his sins for this action. The Prophet, may God praise him, was asked, “Messenger of God, are we rewarded for kindness towards animals?” He said: “There is a reward for kindness to every living animal or human.”

Additionally, while taking the life of an animal for food, Muslims are commanded to do so in a manner that causes the least amount of fright and suffering possible. The Prophet Muhammad said: “When you slaughter an animal, do so in the best way. One should sharpen his knife to reduce the suffering of the animal.”

In light of these and other Islamic texts, the act of inciting terror in the hearts of defenseless civilians, the wholesale destruction of buildings and properties, the bombing and maiming of innocent men, women, and children are all forbidden and detestable acts according to Islam and the Muslims. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the vast majority have nothing to do with the violent events some have associated with Muslims. If an individual Muslim were to commit an act of terrorism, this person would be guilty of violating the laws of Islam.
