Get some frozen lemonade and let melt. Add a little powdered sugar to sweeten just a little. Once the cake is cooled poke holes in it and drizzle the lemonade over the cake. Do not do this in the cake pan as it will stick. I do it on the serving plate. Make a whip cream frosting and decorate with some lemon peel and curled chocolate(can buy in store). This has been a hit every time I have made it.

Do you have canned frosting?
1.Mix together the cake mix, 4 eggs, 1 cup oil, 1 cup water 3.
Pour into prepared Bundt pan and bake for 1 hour 10 minutes in preheated oven at 350 degrees.
OR
2. Add half teaspoon almond extract, half cup coconut and one small can well drained crushed pineapple. Bake as directions on box.
OR
3. Pour large can of crushed pineapple, juice and all on bottom of 9x13 baking pan
Pour on top of that a can of cherry pie filling
Sprinkle on top of that your box of dry yellow cake mix
Drizzle over all a stick of melted butter.
Bake according to package.

I have used assorted candies in box mixes before but prefer to use different berries since the candies "melt" into blobs and just dont look appealing in a yellow cake to me.
If you use Duncan Heins or Pillsbury, cut down the amount of butter/oil by 1Tblsp and the amount of milk/water by 2Tblsp for every 1/4 c of berries you add from the box directions of the cake will get mushy.

Use the mini-M&Ms, the bigger ones are more likely to settle to the bottom as they cook. There are also several different kinds of flavor chips, like chocolate chips, in the baking aisle. If you would rather go fruity, use dried fruit bits, or replace the water with fruit juice, such as apple or pineapple. Go with something that doesn't have extra sugar added, it will make the cake more likely to stick in the pan. Nuts are also a nice addition.

I'd put the M&Ms in the frosting instead. You could also buy those tubes of decorating frosting and draw larger M&Ms on the ouside of the frosting for decoration. A few colors should do it.
Or you could make a pineapple upside-down cake, directions may be on the box.

Maybe putting a box of sprinkles in the mix will help. Maybe make your cake a shape.
Glad I could help,
