Jock itch is caused by a fungus. Fungi thrive in dark, warm and moist environments. Try boxers rather than tight fitting briefs. Wear loose fitting pants whenever possible. Bathe frequently, use a new towel each time to dry off. If there is any way to expose the area to sunlight and air currents (without getting arrested), do so. Seriously.
The previously mentioned creams and ointments will be more effective in dry environments. Clotrimazole and lamisil are the silver and gold standards.
If no results, try a dermatologist. It might not be simple jock itch.

RE:
Anyone had Jock itch? I used Lamisil & it didn't work!:( What medicine is best effective for curing jock itch?
My doctor presribed Lamisil for my jock itch and I have been using it for about 3 weeks now and haven't seen any changes or any signs of the jock itch going away or getting better. It is still the same and seems like it is just getting worse!
Anyone had the same experience? Has anyone had...

jock itch is caused by a skin fungus. It grows because it has a warm, moist environment, and an ample food source (your old dead skin cells. Disrupting any of these things and/or killing it directly is the way to go: as often as you urinate or have a bowel movement you should take a clean paper towel and lightly wash the area being careful to dry the area after with a fresh dry paper towel. There are over the counter sprays/creams that can be used in addition, but I would avoid any starch or baby powder products. If you can't find Cruex or similar spray,a vaginal yeast infection cream can be substituted (like Monistat of Gynelotrimin)

Try using antifungul spray for jock itch. I had a problem with it on my buttocks and its almost gone now. Ive had it for years and got fed up with it and antifungul sprays worked like a charm for me. Cheap sprays are fine. Use one that has miconazole or Tolnafate. The one im using has Tonafate its a off brand type.

Personally I don't use name brands. I use generics. There are 2 main otc anti fungals ; clotrimazole, and tolfnate. lok on your package and see which one is in the Lamisil and buy some of the other one, if you still don't see any improvement in like a week see your doc again for a stronger prescription antifungal cream.

Go to your local drug store. Pick up a can of "Cruex". It's an aerosol that sprays on like a powder. Did wonders for me. You'll have to do several applications over a period of time. DO NOT reuse the same bath towel each time you shower. You will only reinfect yourself and infect others that share the same bathroom.

If the OTC products are not working, you need to see your doctor about alternatives. Especially since it has been going on for so long!
