OK...just as a preface(or whatever) I know this is just a TV show...but...

On Charmed(just now) their friend(who is a warlock) just was ordained a priest and they were happy because when he became a priest it did something to cancel out this dark covenant. The charmed ones were happy he did this as well.

So, if this show has any factual basis would that mean wiccans believed in God?

Yes, I know this is a TV show. But I don't know anything about wicca. So I don't know if the writers/editors/whoever else did any research and had a knowledgable background about it.

That's why I asked, because I didn't know. You don't have to give me attitude.

The t.v. show Charmed has pretty much nothing to do with Wicca.. they use some wiccan terms and the rest is pure fantasy.. the show is meant for entertainment and NOT for education.

They demonstrate a total lack of comprehension regarding Wicca. A Warlock is not a male witch or Wiccan, a warlock is an apostate, and worse: during the Burning Times, when government agents went about looking for witches to burn at the stake in big public spectacles, warlocks were the traitors who pointed out their fellow Wiccans/witches to the authorities.

Of course Wiccans believe in God. Generally, Goddess first.

Just because you practice witchcraft does not mean you are a Wiccan. Wiccan is a religion. I've never heard any character on the show claim to be Wiccan, just charmed.

Wiccans may believe in a variety of deities but usually not the Christian one.

The show has no factual basis. The really cheap awful special effects, bad acting, and bad writing should tip you off.

"Charmed" is not about Wicca.

"Charmed" is Hollywood fiction. It has nothing to do with the actual Wiccan religion.

Wiccans don't "vanquish demons" or "orb" or do pretty much any of the things that you see on "Charmed".

By the way, Wiccans do believe in God - just not the Judeo-Christian concept of "God".

Geezah - thank you for the analogy! Using "Charmed" to learn about Wicca is like using "Hogan's Heroes" to learn about WWII POW camps...

Its just a tv show. Wiccans believe in a god and a goddess.

1) "Charmed" is no more a documentary on Wicca than "The Flying Nun" is a documentary on Christianity.

2) But yes, the Wicca religion is theistic, if that's what your asking. They do have deities.

That show is entertaining but a few things:

Wiccans don't have magical powers.
We don't believe in demons.
Warlock translates to 'Traitor of the Goddess'
We believe in a Goddess and a God.

the god and the goddess together.

and charmed is about trying to integrate the witches into the christian pantheon, just like old gods were integrated as saints.

those goniffs.

added::

dude, the attitude is not about you, it's about the series "charmed" that creates a false notion of what witches are and what witches do.
