every 4-6 hrs. Plus hydrocondon APA 7.5-500.
He is a big guy (6'4 and 315 lbs) without serious illnesses or surgeries. So far it's been about 38 hours, but his improvement is slow and he still feels pain. His pain seemed to be localized, but after 30 hrs it spread to the surrounding gum and cheek, is this a good sign?
WHEN WILL THIS ANTIBIOTIC "KICK IN" TO EASE HIS PAIN ? ALSO WHAT ELSE CAN HE DO TO CALM THE PAIN UNTIL HE CAN GET IT PULLED OUT.

HELLO,
A CLINDAMYCIN 300mg EVER 6 HOURS COMBINED WITH HYDRCODONE AND ACETAMINOPHEN AS A PAIN KILLER IS STANDARD PROCEDURE FOR SOMEONE LIKE YOUR BROTHER.
NORMALLY IT'S 2-3 DAYS FOR THE ANTIBIOTIC TO BEGIN TO BRING DOWN THE INFECTION.
ADVIL OR IBUPROFEN IS BETTER FOR PAIN CONTROL THAT HYDROCODONE/ACETAMINOPHEN.
FOR THE ADVIL, TAKE 3-4 200mg EVERY 4-6 HOURS IS MORE EFFECTIVE THAN HYDROCODONE.
HE NEEDS TO SEE A DENTIST TO TREAT OR EXTRACT THIS TOOTH. AN ABSCESS LEFT UNTREATED HAS BEEN KNOWN TO KILL A PERSON FROM A BLOOD INFECTION.

This is the worst thing you could do but it works. take an
ordinary aspirin put it on the tooth or get some orajel I don't
know if that is the right spelling for it. it numbs the gums and get some good pain killers that the pharmacists can give you. you can get tylenol with codeine but you have to ask for it. It will take a couple of days more for them to kick in. if it gets worse go to the duty clinic to make sure the antibiotics are good enough. hope he feels better very soon. Now I will get back to my game. ok

Did he see a dentist?
He should have a root canal or an extraction (it's his choice) done.
The antibiotic will help with the infection but the problem is still there (the condition of the tooth). That problem needs fixed--somehow. Tell the dentist you want him seen now.

Sounds like an abcessed tooth. (major infection)
Due to location, this infection can travel into the bloodstream and threaten life if untreated.
I think the gums need to be surgically cut and infection drained...soon.
Antibiotics are good if the infection is not this far...or after the gums are drained of puss.

Clove oil DOES help immediately.
He needs an oral surgeon.
