Snowball earth, evolution, mass extinction, our moon being a collision then our companion, and it was once closer to earth and is still moving away, but keeps us tilted and steady, molton iron core that gives us a magnetic field, and has and still does move continents and shapes ocean currents. Come on folks.

Nope, not at all.
To the thumbs downer, Can you prove it does? Anything in the bible?

This is a pretty lame question.

I know in the Quran it talks about the universe continuing to expand, amungst other things, but honestly- who said religion existed to explain scientific phenomenons or to discover more about our world/universe.

Religions exist as a way of doing good in this life in order to attain success in the next.

Do you think God will judge people and punish/reward them on the basis they didnt know how many moons Jupiter had.

Also, just picture the religious scriptures trying to explain quantum physics to people who lived thousands of years ago. They would have no clue, so what would be the point.

Think your questions through.

no, religions do not explain scientific or natural occurences.
they just show the need for some people to have a security blanket because they have a hard time living in the real world.

NOPE... but that's beside the point really. As the pope put it... science explains "how", religion explains "why"

What I want to know is why everything religion attempts to explain actually makes no sense.

Where do rainbows come from? Oh right... its God's promise... he stuck em there after storms so we would remember that he's not going to wipe us out again!
