I am looking for a different kind of cake(flavor wise). I have no clue what to go with. My fiance and I don't want a white cake. Our wedding is already really crazy. So any crazy ideas would be great. We wanted our wedding to be really different and unique. Something everyone will talk about. We really love berries(strawberries, raspberries, black and blue berries) but don't know what kind of cake to go with it. any suggestions?

I would totally go with a cake with multiple layers... each a different flavor. Like Lemon with blueberries.. sounds wierd but yummy. chocolate and strawberries... and then almond and raspberries and blackberries! full of color and flavors. Then with white frosting it will still look like on unison cake!

My friend got married two years ago and also wanted a very different cake. She loves donuts, so we made a donut cake! It had three tiers but instead of cake layers, it was layers of donuts. We iced the sides and decorated it with ribbon and fresh tropical blooms. It was beautiful and inexpensive! Everyone loved that they could literally just use their hands to eat a piece of the "cake"! You could do something like that, decorate using berries!

go for a different dessert other than traditional cake. If you like berries then I would go for a shortcake with berry topping and whipped cream.
I'm doing brownies stacked and covered in white chocolate-cream cheese frosting, Looks just like a cake but it will taste so much better.

How about an English Trifle with all the berries you like, mmmm served in a real nice big bowl, like a punch bowl, a real nice antique crystal cut bowl or a silver bowl.. ... that should be different. ..or a Strawberry Tiramisu... Should be delightful and it is the season for berries right now.

My vote is for non-cake. My daughter found croquembouche on the food network website, and fell in love with the idea.

The bakery who'll be making it for us offered about nine different flavors for the fillings. The standard procedure for this bakery is to choose two flavors, but I'm sure they would gladly accommodate as many as we'd like...my daughter & her fiance selected chocolate and grand marnier for their two flavors. They've chosen to have it decorated only with spun sugar, but you could easily throw berries in and/or on it to add color and flavor.

Go with a rich pound cake, then you can have the mixed berries with cream.
