so i have light purple walls... violet i guess. and i have light wood floors. i recently bought new furniture. i got an off white headboard and foot board and an off white nightstand and and off white bookcase
here is a picture of what the headboard and nightstand KIND OF look like: http://www.thefurniture.com/store/Images/Lea/368/368-936-SET.jpg
so i need a new comforter and area rug but i don't know what color. a white comforter would look bad because of the off white headboard. so should i get purple to match the walls or is that too much purple? and then should i get a purple area rug? because white would clash... but if i get all purple it would just be way too much purple. ahh help!

1] for comforter: a print or design in purple, white, and ___[ whatever else you want ]
2] add a purple rug
3] add pillows that match the bedding, and maybe some purple, white, or 3rd color ones
4] add small accessories in the three different colors [ candles, vase, knick-knacks ]
5] add artwork that has some of the room colors in it [
paintings, photos, swags, wall hanging, etc.]
6] frame all items in same material [ oak or walnut, brass or silver, white or purple ] so you can switch them around later.

My sister has an all purple room too. She used plum colors as accents...that way it's still purple, but different variations. She has a really pretty satin patchwork comforter with all different colors of purple, gold, and blue. As far as a area rug...go to Home Depot and ask for an area rug catalog...they have tons and every so often they have a 20% off area rugs sale. Then you can visualize what it will look like. Buy your comforter first though...then work off of that.

What you want to do is get a spread/comforter with a purple in it to accent the purple walls. Consider a Berber area rug to accent the head and foot board.

you could probably get the comforter purple, but if you had the walls and the rug purple, THAT would be too much purple... or maybe you could find a third color that would look good next to them.. im not sure since i cant exactly see the colors.. but you can look around and find a nice color.. i dunno, how would a light pink look? i dunno, b/c pink goes with white, but i dunno about the purple.. you should just like look at different things and find a color that you like that matches! or maybe a darker purple might match... just look around!

generally the "focus"wall should be the darker color but the lighting in the room natural and electric will play a part .if you were to paint the wall opposite the windows it could wash away any difference in tones. i suggest you paint a small section of each wall with each color before deciding to really see what works in your home.
