A variety of names have been given to the Wandering Jew, including Melmoth, Ahasuerus, Matathias, Buttadeus, Cartophilus, Isaac Laquedem (a name for him in France and the Low Countries, in popular legend as well as in a novel by Dumas, see below), and Juan Espera a Dios (Spanish: "John [who] waits for God") and also Jerusalemin suutari ("Shoemaker of Jerusalem" in Finnish).
At least from the seventeenth century the name Ahasver has been given to the Wandering Jew, an unlikely one, on the face of it, adapted from Ahasuerus, the Persian king in Esther, who is not a Jew, and whose very name among medieval Jews was an exemplum of a fool.
I've also heard Caiphus, the gatekeeper...

The Wandering Jew (Tradescantia pallida, synonym Setcreasea purpurea) is a species of spiderwort native to eastern Mexico, from Tamaulipas to Yucatan. It is an evergreen perennial plant with elongated, pointed leaves 7-15 cm long, and small three-petalled white, pink or purple flowers with yellow stamens. The leaves are glaucous green, often with a red or purple fringe, or (in many cultivars) purple throughout, or green and white variegated.

The Wandering Jew is a figure from Christian folklore. The legend relates that a Jewish shoemaker, taunting Jesus on the way to crucifixion, was told by him to "go on forever till I return". The shoemaker was thus punished for his indiscretion by being forced to wander the earth until the second coming of Jesus.

Jesus exchange right into a Jew yet had new innovations-- he died Jewish yet those after him started a sparkling faith of Christianity consistent together with his new innovations. After that it is going by the mum. additionally as a results of fact they have been oppressed so oftentimes, Jews are growing to be to be dispersed for the era of many countries. i.e. Spanish inquisition, the Romans the two Arabs and Jews have some form of a historic previous with the land.. i individually have self assurance that historic previous isn't as considerable as a results of fact the present situation. I don't know of any actual claims, but it was the subject of a very interesting play I saw a little while ago called Underneath The Lintel (review link pasted below). The story, as expounded in the play, is that the Wandering Jew could never actually reveal himself as such - he'd been forbidden from the start, ever to be still, ever to share his story. So he writes a simple statement - "I was here" - wherever he can, whenever he can while remaining technically anonymous.
Not one of the GREAT plays, but certainly thought-provoking.

The wandering Jews is does not concern a specific individual. It refers to the condition of the Jews from the time of the destruction of the second temple until the arrival of the messiah, an event we are still anticipating.

See-ing that the man is wandering the face of the Earth, he could be seen any-where. I sometimes see a lonely, forelorn, tired Caucasian man walking in my area, an area known as Newcastle [ there is more than one area on Earth with this place-name]. I often wonder, if this is the man.

It was by GOD not JESUS at the END of the EXODUS trail and GOD told that to MOSES, long before there was a JESUS.
He told Moses that Jews would wonder the Earth and Moses would NEVER see the promised land.
That is the ILL they faced for having SO LITTLE FAITH during the EXODUS TREK and for being ORNARY.
God doesn't like ORANARY WEASLES!
