It's mostly "science & logic" type atheists going at it with lunatic fringe fundamentalists. Am I the only person who gets bored with all this back and forth on idiocies like "creationism"? I had expected it to be dominated by religious minoritities. Rather colorful. All kinds of exotic belief systems. This is like listening to a 14-year-old science buff bicker with a 14-year-old Bible thumper. There are intelligent questions, but they're awfully hard to find. Is anyone else disturbed by this atheist-fundie domination? I've seen a few postings by pagans and Wiccans but not a lot and anyway there is more variety to our category topic than even that. Opinions? Please be courteous.

To exchange views with others and to explore religious and spiritual variety. I'm not here fpr the equivilant of a tv debate between Pat Robertson and Mr. Science.

Facade,
Given the extent to which they dominate - more than 80% of the questions are of this back-and-forth atheist v. fundie variety - I would reluctantly agree that a separate category might be a good idea. It goes against the grain but one has to be practical. You almost get a headache wading through the titles of all those questions looking for something of something other than funie v. atheist, etc.

I understand where you're coming from. How about you lead us off with some thought-provoking questions?
I honestly try but at times, I'm either too busy or brain-fried from work to really feel like conjuring up a good question. Right now, school's out and it's obvious from the q&a's here that we're in for a very long summer.
I'd like to see something more than the creation vs. evolution argument, but in defense of both sides, they do get asked those questions.. if both sides refused to answer, the questions would stop.
Unfortunately, I don't see it happening any time soon.
Pagans are a minority here. We're not going to have as many q's as the christians and atheists... that's just a fact of life.
Feel free to start posting some questions, and I'm sure we'll all happily answer.

Right now we're suffering from several maladies, most notably the double whammy of summer vacation and days fringing a holiday. These always seem to bring out more of the juvenile and intoxicated jousts.
Agree with the recommendation "use the network." Selectively find folks who are posting the kind of questions and answers that are meaningful to you, add them to your network and/or 360, and you'll soon be having wonderful, meaningful exchanges in the background, far from the noise of the main R&S Q&A pages (which are still good for a sometimes good question and an occasional laugh).
Namaste, peace and happiness.
(PS - Oh yeah. Pangel, who's already answered . . . she's one of the good ones!)

Well, as for a colorful minority, I'm one of the three or four Norse Heathen (Asatruar) regulars on here. I usually keep out of the christian fundie bickering questions, because some of them are so hopelessly stupid that if I wrote what I'm thinking, I'd get my account frozen.
So I just look at my contacts Q&A and see if there is anything interesting, and then answer that.

It has been suggested before that the Atheists and Abrahamists spin off their own "Society & Culture" sub-category. Or that they stay here and the rest spin off. Either way it would take Yahoo to make that change. Does anyone know how to request such a split? And would that be a viable and desireable resolution?

I'm a pagan Taoist, but I'm a bit busy today and I haven't seen many questions for me when I do pop in. And I haven't felt much like arguing with fundies, maybe later...

I agree with you. I prefer to read questions on Hinduism and there isn't that many on that subject. To solve that problem, I connected with many members that frequently ask and answer Hindu-related questions. Now I receive in my email whenever my contacts ask questions. It's been so much better this way.
So just find like-minded people and connect with them. Soon you'll have more interesting questions and answers to participate.

I agree
But that's only because Hindu's Buddhists, Shiks, Bahia's, Suffi and Native Americans are just sitting out there rolling on the floor laughing.
You do realize we are FAR funnier than SNL!

well, i disagree a little.
first of all, i think that most of the people on the r/s section are here because they enjoy debating, even heatedly.
I sure think its fun.
maybe not all christians are happy that us skeptics are on the r/s section, but many do seem to enjoy the debate, despite how frivilious or silly it gets.
Second, i do think that many, MANY people here are like idiotic 14 year olds.
but i must break my neutrality by saying that most of those people are of the christian variety.
i don't think that it needs more "variety", i just think, like you, that the r/s section needs more intellegent questions.

Use the network. Add Pagans to your network that way it is easier to find when they post a question. Works for me, because there's tons of nonsense posted on here.
