Israel is made of many contradiction. Israel is a war zone country peace is the missing link in Israel. Israel is a colonial democracy there is no Constitution that govern the country or protect the rights of the native people of the land. Most of the land is owned by the state Israel is a big settlement where the settlers are immigrants form other countries.

Peter F - Ha ha ha ha..funny that you know what hell is like..have you been there?
I don't believe there is such thing as "perfect" anymore..I would love to, but with no evidence..hope of that has faded!
I have travelled to many places across Europe, Africa and I have visited Israel 10 or 11 times!
Most people have this stereotypical view of Israel, which unless you visit Israel and meet the people..you are unlikely to get rid of. Seeing Israel opened my eyes to a new light.
They are no less of a community than England, USA, France, Germany etc..
In Israel I have stayed in many places Herzliya, Haifa, Eilat, Nahariya, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Netanya, Petah Tiqwa, Ashdod, Hadera etc...
Israel is no different to any other country. They have a mixed bag of people - different races, religions, sexualities and at the end of the day..some lovely, good hearted people & some down right rude people.
Thank You! :-)

Israel has a community that is continuously learning new things. Since nothing in the world is perfect, but G-d, then no the community is not perfect. I commend you for having the interest to learn more about Israel.

A perfect community is in the eye of the beholder. I for one hated Tel Aviv, Haifa and Eilat and found people there to be rude and somewhat selfish. When I was in Ashdod, Yavne, Efrat, T'sfat and in Jerusalem I found people there to be warm and inviting. I was invited to people's houses for Shabbas and was treated with respect. I also discovered that Israeli community is just like those of Kishinev, Moldova and those of Atlanta, GA or New York City. People are people and in any given culture you will find the village idiot, the gullible, the bully, the corrupt official, a kid who wants attention, a young couple getting married, an old couple growing old together, a couple going for divorce, a kid helping elderly person to cross a street, a father and son chasing kite together, a mother and a daughter baking cupcakes together, and teenage couple making out on the sofa while the parents are away. These people can be found in any society.
But I can tell you one thing for certain, Israel is not a perfect nation, but it is the only nation where a Jew can be a Jew without hiding his Judaism. I was in some parts of US where I had to take of my kippa for safety reasons. If Israel falls all the Jews would find themselves in the similar situation that our ancestors have gone through. We would rather have an imperfect society that is striving for the better then a society that is full of itself and thinks that it better then anyone else and does not open itself for growth.

No, I don't think so...
But I challenge you to show me one community in the world that is "perfect". There's no such thing.
Israel is a wonderful place and the Israeli society has many beautiful things in it. Solidarity, for instance.

No, only totalitarian regimes have the blindness to think that they are perfect.
What is great about Western style democracies (of which Israel is one) is that it doesn't have any illusions about what it is. A Western style democracy KNOWS that it isn't perfect but its a lot lot better than any other option.
(For those that know, I was sort of paraphrasing Churchill.)

It's not anywhere close to perfect. Jews are wonderful doctors and lawyers, but they make very poor trash collectors, etc.
But one thing is certain, it is the ONLY Democracy in the area where people of all faiths are protected and enjoy full rights of citizenship!
