First off, ferrets are carnivorous, so they have no place in the rodents section. But that is a common myth. If you were to look at their teeth, you would think otherwise. I doubt it is a black-footed ferret, as they are the most endangered species. A wild ferret wouldn't be one to just walk up to a person and say, "Hey, pet me! Love me!" Domestic ferrets, on the other hand, are very friendly. It is probably a sable ferret. Age is a bit harder to determine. But at least, judging by his length, he is probably full-grown. You may want to put up signs and call the vet to make sure you find the owner. Ferrets are little escape artists, and will easily get lost. I'm sure there's somebody out there heartbroken over their ferret. I would be about my three as well.

this is a pet ferret. Your best bet is to take him to the local vet, have them microchip him and if possible ask them to keep him there. The owner is proberly going out of his/her mind looking for him. Ferrets cannot survive in the wild as they were never wild animals so don't let him go back out free. They need to be fed ferret food only. You would have to distinguish age from a vet, the older the ferret, the icker the teeth usually are unless the owner has done good up keep. Good Luck. And ferrets aren't rodents by the way.

Ferrets are in the same category as Weasels, and they are not in fact rodents.
We were introduced to ferrets by one finding us when it ran away form home as well. We went to the local 3 pet stores, and we found the one that had the "Ferret Lost" sign. Please try that. We have 3 of them, and we would be crushed if we lost one. You could also try several local vents...call them to find out if they have seen a ferret that look like this.
Good Luck !!

Well it sounds like a black footed 3 to 19 year old ferret. I know it may look rather small but a foot long is about as big as they can get. (And 19 is about how old they can get!) Plus ferrets can be very sweet so take it to a vet and if you like the ferret than ask the vet if its safe to keep him/her!!!

hes a black footed ferret...heehhehe yes its an obvious thing but thats wut there called! :D if your thinking of keeping him i would take him for acheck up and see if anyone is finding him. he could be a lost pet from someone. you can check the teeth and see how old he is. young ferrets have sharp and "new" loking teeth. old ones have broken down teeth and rather stubbed down from eating most of his life.
i hope all is well
good luck
