He can certainly spend his money however he wants. It is his money, and his right.
But I think it proves that he is out of touch with real people and what things cost based on the income of the Average American. $1250... lets see... that's how much we spend on car insurance for an entire year. That's how much we spend 2 months of our before/after school care for our daughter. That's our mortgage for a whole month! I have to work for almost two weeks (after taxes) to earn that much! It's not just one haircut to most people.

I don't care how much of HIS OWN MONEY he spent for a haircut
I don't even care that the TAXPAYERS PAID FOR LAURA BUSH'S $750 HAIR DO at the second inaugural
Most people on here are clearly the types who deride Edwards simply for being an "ambulance chasing trial lawyer" but of course that's because they're simply parroting back the drivel they've been spoonfed all their lives. Here's a summary of Edwards' most famous case:
John prosecuted a claim on behalf of a 3 yo girl whose intestines were literally sucked out of her body when she sat down over a powerful suction pump in a kiddie pool which was inadequately covered by a flimsy plastic piece, leaving her dependent on medical assistance which would cost her and her family millions of dollars during her lifetime.
Testimony from pool design expert witnesses showed that a sturdy suction cover could have been provided at a cost of only an additional 25 CENTS, yet the defendants chose to utilize the flimsy plastic piece TO SAVE A MEASLY 25 CENTS PER PUMP.
That's how much businesses care about you. Your safety wouldn't be worth 25 CENTS to them if it weren't for people like Edwards.

The $1250 haircut doesn't make him a hypocrite. The fact that he put many ob/gyns out of business in North Carolina to make millions for himself and now calls himself a man of the people does.

What does the cost of Mr. Edwards' haircut got to do with anything? People who are scared to death to talk about real issues attack John Edwards for his hair or the price of cutting it, Michael Moore's weight or Al Gore supposedly inventing the Internet which if they do their research will find is not true and he never claimed it to be true. People are obcessed with John Edwards and his hair. Amazing! Of all the pressing issues in the country and the world and they are obcessed with a man's hair. It shows just how shallow their platform is and how weak their arguments are when they talk real issues.

What kind of society do we live in again? Capitalist? Ah yes, that's it. Look it up.
Last I checked, you were able to spend your earned income on anything you wanted... Should he distribute his wealth to others, because that's not called capitalism at all...
Edit: To say that Edwards is out of touch with the American people because he get $400 haircuts is ridiculous. He may very well be, but nobody who is running for President is poor. Gimme a break. I'm sure they all have ridiculously extravagant crap they don't need.

He must have one heck of a stylist. He can pay what he wants for a hair cut, but he can't identify with the needs of every day people. Most people can't afford to spend that on groceries. He's a loser, ambulance chasing loser. He won't get the vote! And yes, he is a hypocrit.

When he compares himself to the "common man" yes. I don't know if it's HIS money or campaign contributions that are paying for it. He has the right to spend his money anyway he wants.......just don't expect me to think he understands my plight when he's spending more on a haircut than people have to live on.

Everyone who has a lot of money can spend it on whatever they want.
It's their money not yours.
It is a bit concerning that with all this poverty in the world he goes out and spends that much money in a hair cut .... but hey, what can you do ..... ?
What does this have to do with IMMIGRATION anyway?

I heard he got a car wash for 2 zillion dollars!
Seriously, he can spend his money as he pleases. When you're wealthy, that money means as much as 10 bucks does to us.
