Visible tattoos are on some place like your neck, arms, or legs (if you don't wear long pants all the time) that can be seen in everyday clothing. When someone looks at you, they see it!

Strategically placed tattoos are usually only some place that will be seen by you and say a boyfriend or girlfriend, something covered by underwear/bathing suit.

Then there are the ones in the middle-like the ones you can see if you are wearing a bathing suit, but not seen if you wear a suit and tie to the office everyday. Those can be on your back or chest/belly or upper legs.

I'm an office administrator in a website design boutique. I have 8 tattoos, three which are highly visible almost everyday, one covers my forearm (elbow to wrist) and 2 on my upper chest. Noone has ever said anything about it. Actually I usually get a "is that new?" from coworkers and i've been there for 8 months and have had them the whole time! Our company has some of the biggest clients in the country, and when they come in, they always mention how much the like my tats. Another guy in the office has tattoos pretty much completely from the waist up, and he has his lip and tongue pierced, clients don't care that he has all the visible tattoos. As long as we are doing a good job and pleasing them as clients, they don't care. I find that in the IT industry it is more accepted, because there are alot of artists (website designers) and it's all an expression of art.

those are two different things. a strategically placed tattoo in my opinion is one that is placed somewhere for a specific reason and a very specific spot. a visible tattoo is just what it sounds like, one that is visible when someone is dressed. a strategically placed tattoo can also be a visible tattoo. strategic doesn't mean hidden. hidden means hidden. people i think use the terms incorrectly but those aren't technical terms so i guess there are no technical meanings to them.
i hope that makes sense.

Strategically means that it "flows" with your body and it doesn't look just "stuck" there-if you have a butterfly, you want it to be placed on your body as if it were a part of it, not just vertical, done just as if it were in a book. Visible means just what it says-you can see it w/most clothing you wear. If you always wear tank tops, visible would be on your upper arm by your shoulder or on your chest near your neckline. Hope this helps

A strategically placed tattoo is in a place they can be easily covered if needed, such as on your back or hip, etc. A visible tattoo is one that is always visible, i.e. your face, neck, hands, etc.

Well, a visible tattoo makes people look at you a certain way. I know people should not judge, but they do and that's life. Also it depends on the tat. If its' offensive, a naked person, a demeaning symbol, sure people are going to think you are wacked. If you have it hidden, you only know it's there and aren't going to be judged or looked at. But then, what's the reason for getting one, right? Also I think tats are for confident people. People who don't care what people think and are willing to go out on a limb for their beliefs and rights to ink their body. It's just a preference if you don't care that you will be looked at and judged.
