No embarrassment... It's a hilarious advertising stunt.
I find it amazing that anyone can eat 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes.
I don't understand how people can relate the contest to "Americans being the fattest people" since the winners have been Japanese which are probably the "thinnest" people in the world.
Why would the USA worry about countries "laughing" at us?
The US Dollar and English is the currency and language of global business. Other countries can laugh about our eating contest, we can laugh at them for not having indoor-plumbing, poor dental hygiene and no economy.

YES!!!! What is so wonderful about gluttony and physical abuse!
Why not pander to the reverse and show bulimics at work!
YUK gorging on any food is wrong and an embarrassment.
I think it would behoove companies that sponsor these "gorgefests" to take the same amount of food and share it with some hungry kids or a homeless shelter or two. Makes you wonder if they have ever given a thin dime to the starving in Darfur!
YEAP I TOO AM EMBARASSED! And I appreciate you bringing issue in this forum! Thanks a million!

Yes, alot. Its no wonder that the US is the fattest country on earth! The worst part is, I live abroad, and since I am american, people tend to stereotype me based on that, even though I couldn't be more different.

a contest is relaxing- sure, it does entail eating super parts of food, yet not unavoidably on account which you won't be in a position to administration your self (gluttony). i in my opinion does not choose for to eat leftover chunks of lifeless animal, yet in spite of the fact that floats your boat.

It's a sideshow in which I keep expecting someone to choke. And after a while it should keep the cardiologists real busy.

Yes! We don't need another reason for the rest of the world to laugh at us. Obesity is a serious issue here.
